cool! To tell the truth, I was a little bit…worried about how Mike would sound, singing songs I associate with Peter’s voice. (Nothin’ personal, Mike!) But it wasn’t bad at all! A little different from the CD, of course, but still really good!
I hope I get to hear y’all in concert on the new tour.

Since March, it has taken a while to get used to the idea of not hearing Peter’s voice (same here: nothing personal Mike).

Pleasant surprise to hear Mike sing “Glorious.” Different? Yes. Did it catch my ear? You bet! Can’t wait to hear it live. Love the cds but signing it live, in worship attitude: Glorious!

    You are in our prayers!

I love to hear any airplay of the Newsboys!! I would love to hear their song Dance. This song really moves me…so inspiring and uplifting. I love the whole album, but Dance is my favorite song on it!

    Newsboys rock!!
    Love, peace and God bless,

The power of God prevailed through out the show last night. The power of the band and Mike’s voice have taken the Newsboy’s to a new level. Life is full of change, how we handle change is up to each person. The Newsboy’s have placed their trust in God and brought Mike into this group. My wife and I were at DTE last night and we have seen the Newsboys several times…last night we were swept away with Mike’s voice and teh power of the band. His voice is a gift from God and a power for Praise and Worship. This group has walked into a new level. God is good ALL the TIME! Jeff and all in te Newsboy’s we love you and will be praying for

I agree with the two first comments! I was totally freaked out about hearing a different voice (again, nothing personal. If John came back I would still be scared)! But now I’m stoked to hear Micheal sing more!

P.S. Where can we download this song for our ipods and mp3’s?

What happened to the other lead singer. He was really good also. It would be nice if you put on your website what happened to him, and wwhat band he sings for now.

Awesome! They sound great together! I can’t wait until they come in October! I love Michael’s voice!

Congratulations Mike! Very, very beautifully done, dude, you made me cry out hallejuah, thank you Jesus.

    Thanks Michael, God’s blessings always.

Had the pleasure of seeing them in concert at Kingdom Bound! One of the best concerts I have ever been able to attend! Peter even made an appearance for a song or two! Michael did a great job of adding his own flair to old songs as well as singing some of the old DC Talk stuff! AWESOME AWESOME concert! Great job guys I loved it!

Congrats mike. I too wasn’t to sure, but you blew me away. Still miss Peter, but you are doing great!

  12. Michaela

    Great job Mike! :)

I have to admit. I was one of the people who did not take the news of this change well in the beginning. And I couldn’t really get a good feel for the music and form a proper opinion from just the stuff popping up on YouTube.

Well, no one throw anything but… I find this version way better than the original.

Anywho, I’m actually really excited about the switch right now. Glorious is amazing. And the interview on Jesus Freak Hideout really pumped me up. =D

Best of luck Michael! (and Duncan, Jeff, and Jody!)

Pete, you will never lose a place in the hearts of all Nesboys fans…but Mike, you’re showing us you can rock too! Great job, Glorious sounds awesome!

Mike has an amazing voice, truly! But it’s not exactly the sound I expect from Newsboys. We went to the concert in Gaylord, MI. Mike is an awesome singer, and seems to have a great heart after God. I just miss that Aussie sound that I fell in love with.

I saw you at Kindgom Bound 09′ with Mike and all I can say is, What an amazing blessing to have been there and experience you all live! It was exactly what I needed at the time, God is Good!

I have to say I love the Newsboys, loved DC Talk, enjoy Mike Tait, but never in a million years thought that these two groups in some way could mix it up! Bummer to not see Peter in the mix, but a good choice bringing on Mike Tait. Love the song Glorious. Be blessed & pray that you guys can make it another 20 years!

Great Job newsboys! The new song sounds great! I was thinking if you could put it on nb radio. But great song!

  19. Chris

For all the newsboys fans. If you want to have some piece of mind on how good Michael is, I recommend listening to his two solo albums. He can rock it. I miss Peter too, but Michael is also a very talented and blessed singer. Michael I would love to hear you guys do “Spy” on the tour.

I seen The Newsboys back in the late 80’s at Great America, Then I saw them and met them in Sacramento when John was still around. I just seen them with Mike in Turlock,California, and I have to tell you, I personally believe they found the guy to help carry on the mantle for the band!! He rocks! It’s inspiration for me to become a better musician and grow more in Jesus!

  21. Julie Deter

Newsboys, I was so skeptical of the change. Peter, you’ve been awesome, I’ve followed you for probably 18-20 years. I’ve now seen two concerts with Michael, and WOW. God is so good, and I’m still just as avid a fan as ever. I’m LOVING the new version of Glorious on the radio, how can we get a copy of it for our own???

  22. Dicedfroggy

What happened to Pete? I’m new to this band.

  23. isaiah

    best song ever!

  24. Chris

Peter is still around, but is only appearing here and there. Pretty sure he has chosen to spend more time with his family. Can any of us imagine touring for 20 years away from our families that these guys do. They are music missionaries and I give props to Peter. I have seen them in concert several times, just not big really liked Peter. No offense to Mike, love him to, but in the DC Talk genre.

  25. Mark

    Wish you the best.

  26. harold d

just wanted to say that peter and the guys did a really good job picking out mike tait for the lead vocals. he is a very good fit…

  27. Holly

Hi guys! I just have to say that you guys were awesome at LifeLight this year!!! My mom kept saying she was going to go home because she has seen you every time that you have come to Sioux Falls, SD for LifeLight and she was tired. My daughter and I talked her into to staying and she was so happy that she did. YOU GUYS WERE AWESOME!!!! Mike is a great fit. It was a great show everyone was dancing.

So honestly, I’m not sure about Michael yet. I mean, Peter IS the face of Newsboys. He IS the voice of Newsboys - Ever since I was born he was it. This is going to take quite a while for me to accept, if I accept it at all. Nothing personal to you Michael, you were awesome in DCtalk. But… You’re not Australian. Haha! - Just kidding! ;)

I wish the band tons of luck with this drastic change. Hopefully I’ll be able to sing along with new songs instead of trying to wrap myself in Peter’s voice.

    You are in our prayers!

I was also wondrering how Mike would be with the Newsboys. Glorious (Mike Tait version) is one of my favorite songs now. I cannot wait for more. I Look forward to seeing them in concert.

Pete, you will have a place in my heart. The first time I went to one of the newsboys concert change my life. One of my friends made me go with her after I got out of the hospital for suicide attempt. I was suicidal for a long time however, after I went to your concert. I found that God has a bigger picture for me. I just couldn’t see it. From that day my life has never been the same. I been to almost all of your concerts in Iowa. Just wanted to say ~thank you pete~
