Hello Friends,
Sorry for the delay in getting this brief statement out. As we say around the nb camp, “I’ve been flat out like a lizard drinking.” It’s been a busy time helping the lads with this transition, while at the same time finishing up the recording and mixing of the new CD in order to make the May 5th release date.
As you know, I have come to a decision that it is time to stop. I want to thank you for your prayers and encouragement! We have had many people write and call asking about my well-being. Thank you for your concern! I am happy to let you know that I am not dying of some sickness or disease, nor am I in some sort of moral or spiritual crisis (Glory To God!). There has been no band bust-up or punch-out! All is well! (Although now that I think of it, I did accidently render Duncan unconscious one time in a play fight minutes before a concert!) For me, the decision is that after traveling many thousands of miles across land and sea for over 22 years, along with needing to constantly keep writing and reach production deadlines–let alone feed my dog, It was time for something to give, and my booking agent and his GPS drew the
short straw!
What are my plans you ask? Well, at the moment, they are to encourage the lads in this here “passing of the baton” to Michael, as well as to continue songwriting, and most importantly, for Summer and I to continue doing what we are all called to do–that is reach the people that come across our path with the Love and Spirit of Jesus.
I want to thank YOU! For you have always welcomed me, from the early days of criss-crossing the USA in a beat-up, old dodge van, to traveling in trains, planes, ferries, ships, (and of course the occasional motorbike) into some of the most amazing places on this planet! Let me think: Morocco, Israel, Asia, UK, Europe, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa, Russia and Uganda just to name a few. Seeing your faces and hearing you sing has blessed me. Again, many thanks!
Now, I need to ask you a favor. Please do the same for my friend, Michael Tait. Welcome him. Michael is a statesman in our industry, and he is who I have picked to carry on what I started as a teenager.
newsboys is more than a band to me. It is a group of people: men and women, husbands and wives, sons and daughters pooling together their gifts and talents, making many sacrifices, and believing that together we are all making a difference in telling the good news of the saving power of our Lord Jesus Christ to our generation. I am happy to say that this has not changed.
I will continue on with the band as friend, songwriter, cheerleader, and prayer partner.
Please enjoy the new CD, In The Hands of God. We poured our souls into it. I sang at the top of my lungs! It is for you!
Love and Peace,
Peter Furler

Thank you Mr. Peter Furler for your investment into the lives of many people (including me and my family) through your music. Even though I was shocked by the news of your departure, I was joyful in knowing that you are following the Lord with all your heart, soul, strength, and mind. Blessings to you and your wife for your future…it’s gonna be a bright one!

What a true gentleman and man of God! Thank you Peter for your kind words.
God bless your new direction in life. I believe that you deserve it.
You may never know how much you have touched my life personally. The Lord has used you in very powerful ways in my walk with the Lord over the past several years through various stages of life. That is something I value and respect deeply, that you have given me through the Newsboys. That is why, in part, it is hard to see you go. My wife and I would love to meet you, it has been a dream of ours for years because we have never had the opportunity to after a Newsboys show. Somehow, someway, maybe that will be possible someday! I hope so. It would mean a lot to us.
God bless you always,
Al Powell

Peter, Thank you for your message. I can say that I agree with your choice because I also know what it is like to be away from family for long periods of time! I do have to admit though that The Newsboys are not the same without your wonderful voice! Your music is a gift from the Lord and your voice is the only sound that fits it. I am so glad I got to speek with you before the concert in Altoona, PA in Feb. of 2008! To meet the person that influences your directions in music is wonderful. I hope to help draw people to Jesus through music as you have. If your ever in the area, look me up. I would love to treat you and whoever your with to dinner! You took a guy who never listened to Christian music before 2000 and made the Newsboys his favorite band! Your messages and passion, not to mention the greatest music ever wrote has captured my heart and brought me to a new level with Christ! You inspire me to do the same with my music! I’m a drummer (hey Duncan! Met you too!) and hope that my skills that God has given me can be used to serve in ways you have! With all that I have, thank you Peter and thank you to your family for give you the support to go out and bless us with your passion for Christ! I pray that someday we will “cross paths” again so that I can tell you in person how special you are to me and to thank you hand to hand for adding a bit of light to all the dark days in my life! THANK YOU!!! GOD BLESS from my wonderful family your your wonderful family! Matheu Smiley

Thanks so much Peter! The songs you have sung and the words you have spoken over the years have impacted me and countless others more than you will ever know. I was blessed to see you 10 times! As well as recently at Woodrbidge VA and I know Mike will do a great job after seeing him perform there with you. I love you and the sacrafices you made for the kingdom over all these years! God bless you and the rest of the band as they continue with the revolution that started over 2,000 years ago. I think I speak for all of us when I say that I can’t wait until the day when all of Gods children will sing “Glory Glory Hallelujah He Reigns! Peter,
Thank you for this message to us, the fans. And to me, personally. The Newsboys have been a blessing from the first moment I saw you (you do remember Mudfest :D). More importantly, you have touched the lives of my children, who are the next generation.
I know that this decision you have made comes directly from God, because you have been nothing less than a man after His own heart. I will continue to pray for you and your family, and of course, I will continue to pray and support the boys, (Now including Michael).
Again, thank you.
Love,

Hi Peter!
Thanks so much for writing to us. It was great to have met you before you decided to step down as frontman and let me tell you, I am so blessed that I was able to have that opportunity (Scranton & Bethlehem, PA). It meant so much to me just to say hi and get to talk to you for a little. I look up to you very very much. You are such an awesome person with an even more awesome heart for our Lord. I can definitely see that you have dedicated your time and poured your heart and soul into the newsboys for such a long time. Again, I am blessed to have heard you share your gifts and talents with us on stage. You are one of kind, Peter, and God bless you for everything. I have always prayed for the newsboys and will forever keep on praying for you all and your families. I don’t know Michael too well but I’m definitely looking forward and excited to see what the newsboys have in store for us now. From what I have been hearing, it hasn’t changed and Michael is doing an awesome job. Peter, the concerts that you and the ‘boys put on are absolutely fantastic, without a doubt. They are such a great time to give praise and honor to our Lord as well as having a great time for some amazing music. You and the ‘boys talents are such great gifts with which God has blessed you with and you have definitely put them to use in an unforgettable fashion. Also, I just wanted to let you and the rest of the newsboys that the Global Tribe organization is really really great! I love missionary work and what you all are doing with Global Tribe is great to see, reaching out and aiding those in need…awesome. I have been on a mission trip to El Salvador and it was the most amazing time.
Peter, you have done so much with music and ministry and I would like to personally thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything that you did. You made a difference in my life, and lives of a thousand of other people. You have followed God’s will and plan for your life and have dedicated yourself to it without any hesitation. And, that is so great to see. Good luck and many blessings to you and your family during this time of transition. I am definitely stoked to hear the new CD, In the Hands of God. May 5th cannot come soon enough. Just know, I will always be praying for you and the newsboys. Maybe I will be able to get to meet you again sometime in my life, that would be awesome. I will miss the Australian accent for sure. But as for now, the journey has been wonderful and I can’t wait to see the newsboys again. Always keep your eyes on Jesus. Honor and Glory to our Savior.
God Bless You, Peter, and Thank you so much.
Much Love,

Thanks for the letter here! And thanks, also, for taking a break. That may sound wrong (yeah, thanks for leaving! :p ) but what I mean is, I’m glad you’re paying attention to what you and your family need. Often I’ve wondered how you guys can just keep going and going like that (on Energizer batteries, perchance?).
I’ll certainly welcome Michael! The message boards have been driving me nuts with some of the negativity. WELCOME TO THE BAND, TAIT!
Can’t wait to hear more of the new album!
God bless!

Peter, you will be missed so very much. Ever since I saw Newsboys for the first time in 96 at Acquire the Fire, I was hooked. It is a very sad time for me but am blown away that Micheal Tait will be stepping in. As I’m getting older I’m realizing as things change for me they will to for the Christian artist I know and love. Think you for the songs you’ve sanged in the impact they’ve had on my life. God bless you Peter.
March 26th, 2009 on 7:15 pm
Peter,
I’m a very new fan, and I’m sorry I’ll never get to see you perform live.
But I want to thank you for your years of service and ministry. Your music encourages me, strengthens me, and yes… even convicts me. All to the Glory of God.
Thank you for your integrity and your infectious joy. Many blessings on you and your family.
Michael, welcome to the newsboys family!

I heard “In the Hands of God” tonight on my way home from work and I paid closer attention to the voices and the music than I normally do, since I may not hear you as often on the radio. I was reminded how strong and wonderful your voice is, Peter, and I praise God for how He has used you, lo these many years, in my life and in those I know and love. Here it is, 22 years later, and the strength in your voice is still a blessing to me as you praise God, as you lead me to praise God, and as you witness to the power of Jesus Christ. I am glad to hear that you will continue to work with the band and will continue to write and sing. Go with God and thank you. I look forward to what God will do in the coming years through the Newsboys and with Michael at the mic!
March 26th, 2009 on 7:40 pm
Dear Peter (and Newsboys),
I echo the sentiments of those who have written above. God indeed has used you (all) to spread the Gospel to every tribe, every tongue, and every nation. I thank and praise God for the way He’s blessed your ministry and music. I’ve wanted a chance to meet you as well, beyond the positive charisma and energy present in the Newsboys’ songs and DVDs. I’ll miss you, Peter, yet will know you’ll be supporting the band in praying and songwriting.
Sincerely, Youngjoon (YJ) Choi
March 26th, 2009 on 7:43 pm
I have prayed for you all for many years. I consider you friends, I am excited about Mike joining the band and I’m excited for what God has for Pete. Praying for you always with your ministry!
March 26th, 2009 on 7:47 pm
Peter: thanks so much for letting us fans know that you are alright. Some of us were concerned.
First, a big thanks from the Hughes family in Houston, Texas for all that you have done in these years. The music has been the soundtrack to my life, as stated a few weeks ago. Many trials over the last six years but the songs pop up out of nowhere. Its God’s way of reminding my family and me that He is still in control and that He can place us where most needed. You will be missed.
And, we will do as you ask: Pray for Michael in his new divine assignment. While in Longview, TX and not knowing the changes occuring, I told him I would pray for him. I meant what I said, just did not know that what degree!
Please keep us posted.

Thank you Peter, we have enjoyed watching you over the past few years and will miss you. Loved seeing you once last time in Johnson City, we load up the kids and drove from NC across the mountain. It was great, you reached so many young people with the gospel. And as The Bigest Tait Fans, now Newsboys, we can not wait to see Michael. I think Glimmer should be next Newsboys song, since we have been waiting on Loveology for years. Love all you newsboys the Lord has and will continue to use you to reach the lost and hope I am there to see some of it!
March 26th, 2009 on 8:07 pm
*Darn you, Peter’s booking agent and your poor choice of straws!!*
But I’ll continue to pray for the band and I’ll get every new album the band puts out as long as you keep up the awesome studio work
LOL! Okay, seriously. Thank you so much for getting the statement out. You had a lot of people *coughmyselfincluded* worried for a while. We will all miss you and it won’t be the same without you on the road. That’s an understatement. You’re the energy of the show and you’ll always be a newsboy
So yeah, anymore surprises in store for this year? o.O LOL!
Take care Peter! And maybe come to Pittsburgh … someday… maybe…
March 26th, 2009 on 8:34 pm
PETER..say it ain’t so!!
Okay, I’m not going to lie, I’m quite distraught! Tait was a good choice, but anytime you want to return..totally fine by me! Seriously..feel free to return ANYtime!
March 26th, 2009 on 8:37 pm
Peter,
You are so loved! It breaks my heart to think that I will never see you again in concert. Your beautiful voice, amazing testimony and presence will be so missed.
I am really glad to hear you will still be writing your awesome lyrics and music. Newsboys are the best thing I’ve ever heard…on so many levels.
I know you have done well in choosing Michael, and I wish him and all the ‘Boys the very best. I will see them in concert this July, but it will still be so hard without you.
As for “singing at the top of your lungs” on the new cd–well, that’s one of my favorite things when you really belt out something–like at the end of Lord, We Don’t Know, etc!!
You are an awesome man and you have done so much for all of us over the years. THANK YOU!

Peter, Glad to hear from ya, and that everything is good. My first show seeing the newsboys was in 1991 in Dubuque, Iowa. The next day the fans were able to have a fun day in the snow at the local ski slopes with the band. After the concert the Newsboys music became the soundtrack of my Christian walk, the highs and the lows. Now 18 years and 20 shows later it feels like its over, it is over! Now the jam-box has stopped playing and with the “new” batteries it doesn’t seem to help. I’m glad music last forever. Peter you have such a unique voice and a talent for writing music. The emotions the music brings out was amazing! You will be missed by all your fans, can’t wait for the new music, In The Hands of God. Now that the current soundtrack of my walk with the Lord has ended, I’m thankful we have “one more for the road” as I used to say when I was a drinker! May God bless you and your family Peter, and God bless
the Newsboys.
PS:Can we talk solo cd?(ok, a little early)

Dear Peter,
I can not even imagine what NB will be like with out you!
My sister went to one of your concerts and was so touched and amazed!!!
My only wish was that my sister,my mom and i (i have 4 siblings not including me)could have seen YOU in the concert and not michael. Now dont get me wrong, Michael is great but i feel like he dosent have the same mind set for your mission. You peter and the rest of NB brought my brother back to G-D and we were waiting for that day for YEARS. and my mom was waiting for that day since he was a teen. Now he is 31 and knows what he is going to do with his life. He is a talented singer and musician and he is going to use his gift and talent that G-D gave him to sing songs to G-D. No more secular music about nonsense. You helped with that and we cant tank you enough.
We were supposed to come to your concert on march 17 in Denver, Colorado,
but when i herd the news that you were stepping down we were so disappointed that my sister,my mom and i gave up our tickets and only my brother and his girlfriend went. I have been waiting to go to one of your concert ever since i was six. When the jonah movie from veggie tales came out we just loved that song you guys played that we fell in love with your music.
Even tho i am only 12 and still very young i have been waiting for what has felt like a eternity to go to your concert and feel that holiness and be amazed by what you are doing. But that eternity has only been six years.
I just hope one day no matter what age i am that my brother (who went to the concert in denver and yet still did not realize that it was not the same with out you),my mom (who was waiting for that concert just as long as my sister and i),my sister and i were to see you play the blessed music that you and the rest of NB writes and see the talent and special gift the G-d gave you (and the rest of the band.
May you be healthy, happy, have a long life and continue to use your gift of song writing that G-D gave you .
and my we be able to go to a concert where we (i) can experence my life long dream and see you up there playing with the rest of the band.(and i gess micheal should be there to!)

Thank you so much Peter. It was good to finally hear from you. Words could not begin to express the impact the music of the Newsboys has had upon my life. Currently, I am a college student wondering what the future holds. In one of your concerts recently you reminded me not to worry about my future, because God is already there, and He has a plan for my life. Thanks for the music, message, and words of encouragement. I have been greatly blessed.
The concerts will be very different without you now, but I know the message will still be the same. For everything there is a season, and this appears to be a season of change for the Newsboys and their fans. I am grateful for the opportunity I was given to meet you last year in Saginaw on the Go tour. I am looking forward to the release of the new album. May God continue to pour out His blessings in abundance upon you and Summer as you continue to share the love and message of Jesus with those you encounter in your lives.
Love, Blessings, and Prayers,

Peter,
Word cannot express how grateful I am for what you and the newsboys have done in my life. Through God’s grace your music and ministry have brought me closer to God than I could have ever imagined.
My family and I have been blessed to see you eleven times since June of 2007. My kids and I were blessed to have been at the Front Row Live taping (in front row)last July in Atlanta (yes, we were the crazy ones with the cereal box (Hi Duncan:-) Also, my husband and I had the opportunity to see you two weeks ago in Johnson City, TN and WOW-if that’s the last time we see you front the band-all I can say is what a way to end!! In The Hands of God live will no doubt go down as one of newsboys best ever (You told us at the Front Row Live taping that this would be the best record EVER and if this song is any indication one can only imagine).
I will admit……many tears have been shed personally since this announcement. I will not lie-it was like a dagger in the heart to learn the news. Yes, my feelings were, and continue to be, selfish. But please understand-your music & ministry helped me through the death of my father, kept my family together and made us strong, and LITERALLY-saved my son’s life.
The Holy Spirit was at every one of your shows that we have been blessed enough to witness. And “Wherever You Go” I have no doubt more blessed events will occur. I NEVER want to forget what it feels like to be at a newsboys concert. If we (the body of Christ) could take that energy and raw emotion to the population-imagine what a difference could be made.
Godspeed to you and Summer. You will be in my prayers and I truly look forward to what God has in store for all of our futures.

Thank you for following Gods lead in your life and He brought you to this new crossroads. I will be very very sad to see you go. I saw you in concert many times over the years, but the one in Augusta Maine in 2007 was awesome.
I look forward to what is to come for Newsboys and for you. Peace and God be with you, your friends, family and band members.

Man alive…….I first saw the Newsboys open up for Steven Curtis Chapman (Great Adventure Tour - 1993?). SHINE was the main song that rung thru my mind during and after the show. I have been fortunate enough to see the band a couple more times since.
PETER - one thing I can say is during my Christian life, you were the “best” at providing the true and simple Gospel message at your shows. Many artists briefly touch the surface when they have thousands of hearts/souls in front of them. During festivals and most recently The Go Tour, you did a great job in front of thousands. GOD BLESS you for hearing that mission bell years and years ago and doing your part with the gift that God gave you.
Hope to see you again on stage……

Peter, Thanks for all you have done with the Newsboys. You, and the boys, have inspired 3 generations in my family - Devotion praise songs loved by my parents, and songs right up to the most recent to inspire my wife and I and our teenaged son - to be not ashamed, and to go. It is hard to see you leave Newsboys, but you have left a legacy of work that will not be soon forgotten - or off our MP3 players. God Bless you and may you have joy — some Hatfields from Kentucky.

Dear Peter,
Thank you for your sincere note regarding your departure from touring. Your honest, humble, and entertaining presence means so much to your fans. Your writing has challenged and comforted me as I’ve grown up in Christ.
I know that Our Lord Jesus will use you mightily in all your new ventures, and pray that He will continue to bless you and Summer!
As I warmly welcome Michael to the gang, I encourage all of you: Continue to “Shine” for Jesus!

Peter,
My family and I were lucky enough to see you at SWC, Napa Valley (Calistoga) and the Fresno Fair last summer and fall….actually 4 times in all on the GO Tour. We met you four at Napa Valley and then as you motorbiked your way along the California coast, we met up with you again to shake hands with Paul, Jeff and Duncan at the Fresno Fair (who by then thought we were stalking you). We saw the newsboys last Sunday in Modesto, front row (as always), and it was REALLY a different concert without you. HOWEVER, we truly feel that you are like family to our family. You have blessed us so much. We felt that Michael seemed nervous as he has huge shoes to fill and we did our best to make him feel welcome. He seemed most comfortable when he sang “In The Light” and the crowd responded to that. It will take some time for him to get comfortable taking ownership of these concerts, and we should all be patient with this.
One of the things I like best about the newsboys is that EVERY song brings glory to God–EVERY SINGLE ONE, and in my heart I have always felt that that’s what the newsboys really are all about. It’s not about you, Peter, (and the cool thing is, you know it), it’s not about Michael, it’s not about me or the rest of your fans–it’s about God and how we lift up His name. Thank you, newsboys, for coming back and singing “It Is You” at the end of the concert–just beautiful! Blessings to you, Peter and your wife, Summer, and your little hungry dog. Thank you so much for all you have given thus far. Thank you to the rest of the newsboys for carrying on. It is our joy to support you in this choice, because you’ve asked us to, because we believe in what you’re doing and because you have already changed so many lives–and we want to help you change more even more!! And hang in there, Michael! Be patient with us too! Let it shine before all men, let ‘em see good works and then, let it glorify the Lord.
We love you all.

Peter,
You have touched my heart and the hearts of many more than you may realize.
It is without a doubt that the Lord has a path for you and none of us should doubt it.
I hope to see here, there and at random times in the future.
YOU WILL BE MISSED.
Best,
Sean

Hey Peter, thank you for the insight to your decision. I can’t even imagine amount of time and devotion you pour into this ministry called “The Newsboys”. I have a new found respect for all of you in the music industry, as I witnessed the preconcert rituals and sound checks, etc…..I am a Southern California Firefighter and that takes a lot of my time away from my family at home(Wife and 3 kids). Just know that your music and concerts are anointed and they change people’s hearts when we leave your shows. I just attended your “Join The Tribe” concert in Redlands, Ca, with Michael Tait at the helm and I have to say that he is awesome! I was skeptical about him replacing you, but he is an anointed preacher that can sing. The show was anointed and I left satisfied, but we did miss you. I can’t imagine this next album topping the “Go” album, but I’m looking forward to it! So my brother, take care and from one married man of GOD to another, spend that quality time with your wife and I hope to see and hear from you soon! Take care and if you find it in your heart can you help a frustrated guitarist get past this hump of being between a beginner and intermediate player. I want to know any riffs and practice regiments you might do to better your playing and loosen up. I want to bless people and further the Kingdom by ministering through music. Please help! Thanks and God Bless!

Hi Peter, oh where do i begin. i remember the first time i found out about the newsboys. it was via another one of my favourite band website, petra. wen i heard they were retiring, i jus started scouting for more music and i remember flipping through a petra site one day and seeing the name newsboys in an article and i said hmm, let me check these guys out. oh my gosh, it was the second best decision i ever made concerning music (petra first). at that time the devotion album was out and i got it and like four other albums at the same time. as a young christian, we face alot of pressure through things as small as the music we listen to and i thought what a great way to be different, jus listen to something that no one else is listening to and share it with them. i got to know the band and am continually being blessed by them. i must say, wen i heard this news i was initially disappointed. i was absolutely devastated, even angry. i was at school at the time and i wanted to cry, but i didint have the guts to do it around my friends. lol. i knew a change was coming though. i felt it. i just didnt know what and i prayed “Lord, please let the newsboys come to Jamaica before any on this change happens” but God is God and thats what i love about Him. i prayed about it that night bcuz i was really torn about it. the next day i honeslty felt better. i put the situation into context and rationalized it. it wasnt the end of the world. God is working. Let Him do His work. I thanked the Lord for allowing me the priviledge to journey with u guys from album to album. i put i was a lovely ride and i will cherish the memories. Michael welcome, i know u understand how the fans must feel, but it isnt about us, its about the gospel of Jesus Christ reaching this world. the good “news” through the newsboys. we’re all just vessels, so continue on in the name of Christ because its not us who are really doing it, its HIm. Peter you will be missed, but i pray that wherever you go and whatever you do, you will continue to do all in the name of Christ across this world. You have done the masters will. You have touched the lives of millions through His glory alone. continue on in His strength. i love you guys. still hope to see you in Jamaica. Til we Meet! Bless UP!!!

Peter, this is classic. Only someone like you could give such a warm, awesome, loving answer to the reason why Mike is stepping up to the mic. Listen: all you newsboys (all, what, 27 of you??) are great guys, and I believe the newsboys are going to keep going strong. Growing up with the newsboys and dc talk as my two favorite bands, I can’t imagine a better guy to take your place, Pete. I wish you very well on your new adventures. I know this is not the last we’ll ever see of you. Thanks for years of fun and kindness. You won’t be forgotten. And THANK YOU SO MUCH for telling us what on earth was going on! Glad you’re ok! Take care, man!
March 27th, 2009 on 12:46 am
dude! You’re one of my favorite songwriters out there. It’s just something about those seamless pop hooks and happy backing vocals that bring out the song melodies. Newsboys, Chicago and Journey did it well. Hopefully someday I’ll be able to carry on part of that Newsboys message and deliver it with a few seamless hooks of my own. Thanks for your hard work. It was wonderful to enjoy it. The message and songs are in good hands.

Peter, Newsboys, et al.
The Lord has used your ministry to impact my life in so many ways. I have grown up with Newsboys music. It is a bastion of truth in the musical world: clear, pointed, straight-up songwriting and playful optimism that comes from the joy of salvation.
To me, the undercurrent of all Newsboys music has always been the ‘knowledge of the Lord.’ This focal point has set you aside from the very beginning and naturally lead to the honest, worshipful albums in the last decade. In concert, the Lord has truly touched my life in a lasting way. I appreciate your obedience to His direction.
God bless all the members of Newsboys and their families during this transition.

Adrian (CA, USA)

It has been such an exciting journey following you guys around the past few years. You are definitely one of the best band there ever will be. Peter i dont think i will ever look up to someone i dont know, as much as i look up to you. In each concert you blessed me with your words and stories of your past. You encouraged me to pursue not only music, but also to use that music, as a way of reaching out to others and sharing the love of Christ.
I just got back from the concert in Wenatchee and i have to admit, Peter there will NEVER be another you, but i see why you chose Michael to take over as lead singer. He’s an awesome guy and reminds me of you in his dancing skills =) Plus it was nice to see Jody back up there on stage =)
You rock Peter and i hope you are blessed in many ways! Thanks for all your hard work, Newsboys will forever go down in history =)
Love you all so much

Just had to say a quick note to the Newsboys and all the fans out there. We are thrilled to hear that M Tait has been chosen to take Peter’s place. It will be different, but fun.
Just a quick funny thing. We are going tonight to see the Newsboys who come every year for my daughter’s birthday (or so she thinks..she turned 6 yesterday).
With having 6 kids and going every year since we had only 2, my BIGGEST Newsboys fan is my 4 yr old, who literally could watch the Newsboys DVD EVERY day, many times a day. For awhile I thought he would need therapy!! LOL! He LOVES the old ones too, and takes turns watching them. Most 4 yr olds are watching Lightning McQueen (like my 2 yr old) but for my son Tyler its the NEWSBOYS dvd. He will be the one with the huge Capn Crunch logo that my sister made him on a bedsheet, hanging from the balcony at OCC.
God bless you ALL!

Hey Peter!
THANK YOU so much for the impact you have made in my faith. I have so much respect for you and aspire to have that boldness for God that you do!! I will never forget what you have done for me in my life. You will be greatly missed but I look forward to the future of the Newsboy with Michael!!
God Bless You Peter, and LOTS of love!!

Dear Peter,
Thank you for your kind words and strong witness for the Lord. I wish that I would have had the opportunity to have personally met you in Johnson City, TN (God willing that one day will happen;I met Duncan and his wonderful smile!)but God did set that time aside for specific personal prayers for your friend and brother in Christ, Michael Tait.
Thank you so much for welcoming Mike home to continue the deeper love, witnessing ministry for God, that is very evident with the Newsboys, fellow strong men (& women) of God.
Side note: I’ve always referred to him as Mikeyboy for a long time ( just a personal nickname because of his boyish smiling charm) but now it actually fits! Ha, ha, ha. Please keep an eye on him and an encouraging word of love in his ear from me.
Peter, again thank you so much for your testimony of your walk in Jesus and the new anointed adventures ahead!!
I truly pray many blessings on your families, friends and road crews and always safe traveling mercies.
God Bless,
Bobbie Lee from Memphis, TN

Dearest Peter:
Though heartbroken for myself at the loss of your voice with the Newsboys, I have great admiration for your courage and strength to do the right thing for yourself, your family, for God!
My prayers are with you as you move forward to this new chapter in your life.
God Bless,

Enjoy this time off the road, Peter! You deserve it. Thx for the heart you’ve always had for ministry, we know it’ll always be there. Hopefully you and Ms. Summer will surprise us with a little baby Newsboy in the near future? We’d love that! All God’s blessings to you. Look forward to hearing from you again soon.
Don’t worry about Mike, we already love him and welcome him! Gauging from the sounds of the screaming female fan base, he’s already proving to be quite popular, haha. Great ministry too. Hope he enjoys the tour and stays safe from the crazies!

Dear Peter,
Thanks so much for your years of service. I’ve been a hard core Newsboys fan since ‘going public’ came out, and every record has touched my life in a new and different way. I just wanted to say I’m proud of you and the band. You’ve all given your best to God and your fans. Your music has touched our hearts and challenged our spirits.
Now that it is time to move on, I wish all the best for you and Summer. I pray that God continue to bless your marriage and your family as you continue doing what He’s called you to do.
Thank you again Peter.

God bless you Peter. May God lead you to touch more people than ever on your new journey. I will truly miss you. NB was the first Christian group I had ever heard when I was 14 years old, the song was of course Shine. To this day (I am now 27) I can listen to that song, your vocals, and know that Jesus is here for us all! Keep you faith and keep bringing people to Christ! I look forward to seeing what Michael brings to the band. Best wishes and many blessings!
March 27th, 2009 on 9:08 am
Thanks for showing the love of our awesome God for all these years, and for reminding us all that we need to be a light in whatever world we live in. I commend you for having the courage to step down from the shows. Your humor and enthusiam will be greatly missed, but I have full confidence in Michael. He’ll bring a freshness and new approach to the newsboys. So, as Peter asks, newsboys nation, give Michael all of the love and support he needs - Peter’s a tough act to follow!
March 27th, 2009 on 9:14 am
Dear Peter,
This has been a very difficult time for many of your diehard fans! I was so relieved to finally get a word from you and to know that all is well. THANK YOU for everything!!!! Jesus SHINES brightly through all that you have done, will do in the future and who God has made you to be. May God bless you and Summer and I pray this will be a time for you to get some long, overdue rest and renewal! The Newsboys has been my absolute favorite band for many years. In fact, all of my closest friends have rallied around me with their love and support when they heard the news of your departure knowing how hard it would be for me! I have T-shirts, Sweatshirts, pins, hats, buttons, photos, a coffee mug and countless other Newsboys items that I have treasured over the years. I even have a beloved Cap’t Crunch doll on a big stick that I’ve held up during the Breakfast song! I’ve been to 16 concerts all over the midwest and I was fortunate enough to see the Newsboys on the K-Love Cruise in 2005. I can’t wait to hear your newest work, In The Hands Of God! Of course I ordered it as soon as it was available! I’m on my 2nd Go cd as I wore out the first one!! I can’t begin to tell you how much your music has touched my life in recent years. The song, “Let It All Come Out.” has been the most healing song for me. Thank you for writing such a great song. I will personally miss you very much and I will continue to be a fan of the Newsboys! GOD BLESS YOU!!!! In Him, Lynn from Madison, WI

Peter,
Thanks to all you guys for doing what you do. Since my first concert in Lakeland, FL (Carpenters) on the “Take me to your Leader” tour. I was lifted to new heights in my walk with the Lord, my musical talents were inspired and my life was changed. Now I live next door in Smyrna. Hope to see you around some time. God Bless
March 27th, 2009 on 9:25 am
Thank YOU Peter! I too have followed the newsboys since ‘93 and can I tell you - you and the boys are like family to us. We have never met personally, but you guys have been there through life’s trails and triumphs every step of the way. This is the kind of music I hungered for when I was in high school (you & I almost share a b-day by the way, tells you my age LOL!)- the kind I wished I had the talent for - so when I found out God raised up a group of men and women who had this same hunger - and with talent and were DETERMINED to use it for His glory - I was THRILLED!! We introduce it, promote it, encourage it, and support it whenever and wherever we can. There is a whole generation of kids(mine especially)growing up never having to listen to secular music because of the faithfulness of men (& women)like you and Michael (we’re huge dc talk fans as well, you guys always go hand-in-hand in our house!) We have prayed for you all regularly over the years - and will continue to do so. Jesus never promised a life without difficult times & choices, but as long as we trust and obey, He IS always faithful to lead and guide us - and bless us. I do believe the music and ministry of the newsboys has always reflected that - so enjoy your rest Peter - you’ve earned it! We love you!

I am so sad that you are leaving . I saw newsboys concert the other day and Michael is the right choice . Thank you for taking the time out of your day to write to your fans.God bless you

Peter,
Thank you so much for your ministry. In all things Newsboys have always provided a worship experience, done in excellence. We have enjoyed your music each year and have witnessed the Newsboys live over 15 times. You cannot fully understand the blessing it is to have your music to share with my 5 children. Last night we watched the Thrive DVD at the Hall of Fame again and still love it. We will miss you sooo much, and pray you and Summer have lots of dates together now that you have some free time. She deserves it!
March 27th, 2009 on 10:42 am
Hi Peter,
Thanks for the update. I’ve been privileged to attend at least 10 of your concerts over the years starting in 2000. Your concerts have by far been the best I’ve ever been to. At times, I’ve seen and heard you in interviews mention about people asking you about starting a family on your own and I hope and pray that will become a reality for you and Summer someday as I am convinced you two will be some of the neatest parents around. Foster parenting and Adoption also has it’s rewards if that is a route God should lead you too. How cool would it be for your kid to say, “ya, my dad was a Newsboy.” Blessings to you, enjoy being home and remember to feed your dog. LOL

Peter, You really know how to make a grown man cry! There has been so much loss this year on so many fronts, it was almost unbearable to get this news too, but you have been a real trooper all these years of your music ministry, and I completely understand that it about time you take a break. Thank you for all the songs you have written and sung all these years. You are a true inspiration to so many people. I only got to attend one live Newsboys concert at UC Irvine years ago, but it was an unforgettable experience. Looking forward to the new CD. Your music gives me joy and encouragement I need in my life, and your songs lead me to prayer and praise with the Almighty. Thank you and may God bless you always.

PETER, I WILL MISS YOU AND MISS LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT CD RELEASE AND MISS WAITING FOR THE NEXT NB CONCERT TO COME TO TOWN.

Dear Peter,
Very happy for you and your life’s new direction. Doubtful this was an easy decision for you but I’m sure the Lord “has your back” and will direct your family and ministry where He wants you to be. Blessings to your mates and Michael in the transition.
So glad to have seen you and the boys in the Williamsport, PA show last month. What an amazing experience this was. The level of praise and worship is something I’ve never experienced before. I left this concert truly changed – a new and different man in Christ – Glory to God!! Had no idea what affect your music could have on a person. Was honored to shake your hand after the show. Thank you all so much for what you’ve done and will continue to do. Lord be with you always.

I am blessed to hear that all is well with you! We attended the concert with Michael this past week. I will start by saying you were missed greatly.
Michael was outstanding, we agree in your choice - he made a great addition to the band!
We will continue to keep you, your family, the Newsboys (new and old) in our prayers!

Hello Peter,
I want to thank Summer for supporting your calling to minister to us all for so long. Being a Navy wife I know what it’s like to be alone and looking forward to a time that we could be together. We’ve had 6 years of retirement and lovin it ! We both still work but we come home to each other every night and it’s great !
Thanks Peter for living the life that you’ve preached!
Take some afternoon walks together holding hands! You both deserve it !
I love “In The Hands Of God” !
As you continue writing.. please consider writing a song about special need kids.. and how while we don’t always understand why things happen we can trust that God is in control and He has a plan for each of them.

Peter I am still very sad to see you go, but I do understand and respect your reason why. Newsboys are my all time favorite, so it’s hard for me to accept someone new in your place with them. We (my family and I) are planning on attending an upcoming concert in August this year though and we will be leaving our minds and hearts open to Michael, just as you have asked. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and the rest of the guys during this difficult transition. May God bless you in all that you do Peter! Your music and message helped open my husband’s heart to the Lord this past year and we will eternally be grateful to you for that! Thank you for dedicating so much of yourself to the ministry all those years.
March 27th, 2009 on 1:05 pm
Peter…thanks so much for 22 years of honoring God with your life and music. Our family was so blessed by your work and testimony.
A BIG welcome to Michael!!! If your years with DC Talk are any indication of what your time with the Newsboys will be like…WOW we can’t wait to see what God has in store for you.
It is also good to welcome Jody back.
God Bless Jeff, Duncan and all of your families and crew!!! We will be praying for your continued success.

I am SO bummed to hear this… have tickets to a Newsboys concert tonight. Just wanted to say that during the almost 5 years of being separated, you have no idea how many of your concerts encouraged me to keep holding on for what God had in store for our marriage. Years of seeing you at the Gorge with my kids, til finally last summer seeing you at Spirit West coast WITH my husband and kids, and also in Medford last Spring. We have been back together for over a year and a half and things are good. God DOES restore marriages ~ keep spreading that news as you’ve been doing for years! We love you and we will truly miss you. I do hope God will continue using you publicly though. Maybe a book or a cd/dvd with the message you share at the concerts? Love your music, but those ’speeches’ were the best parts of the 9 Newsboys concerts we’ve attended! THANK YOU!
March 27th, 2009 on 3:02 pm
I hope that when the time comes, you can do more than just write songs on the next album - it would be really cool to hear you and Michael Tait sing a couple of duets, or for you to do some background vocals.
Also, I’m really looking forward to seeing the two of you collaborate on some songwriting at some point - that would be absolutely brilliant.
March 27th, 2009 on 3:08 pm
Peter it is you that made us become a fan. We caught you guys playing at spirit west coast. We didn’t know any of the bands. We weren’t use to christian concerts. We only really knew worship through our church. We were so blessed that night 4 years ago. We went back to see you every year and got to see so many other wonderful bands. My family went to see the NBs a week ago. I wasn’t sure about Micheal before the concert but he did a wonderful job singing your songs. We went to the rock and worship roadshow last night and they finally annouced that they were adding the newsboys to spirit west coast again this year….Yea! We miss you but know that God is with you and Summer. Keep writing music Peter!!Look forward to hearing your new CD.
God Bless!

Thanks for everything you did Peter! You were such a blessing and encouragement to many people including me.
I’m going to miss you ALOT, but I am very glad to know that you are doing what you feel God has called you to do. I respect you for that and I’m sure many other people do as well.
Thanks for everything! God bless!

Well, Peter, you will be missed leading the band on stage! But we are excited to welcome Michael to the band. He will be an amazing addition to the Newsboys family! The Lord has used the Newsboys music and ministry to teach my husband and me much in our relationship with Him and helped us through many tough situations. You have been a huge blessing in our life for many years and we look forward to this new chapter with the band! We are also excited to welcome Jody back to the band! He has been missed the last few years and it is great to see the Lord has brought him back. May the Lord continue blessing you, Peter, and working through you and Summer to spread His Word! Thank you for your many years of devotion to this band and to your future role with the band! Enjoy this new chapter in your life! Love you brother! Beth and Bobby from Terre Haute,IN

Dearest Peter,
Good for you! I’m sure this was a hard decision and
You will be missed. I have enjoyed many nb shows,
large and small venues, and you shine so brilliantly.
I was curious why the newsboys would not be at Spirit
West Coast, Monterey this year. nb’s know there way by now, I believe 2008 made 10 years in a row?
We will welcome Michael Tait with open arms and raised voices. I confess, I have a few of his CD’s too.
Hopefully, nb’s will be back at SWC in 2010.
Now, have you cautioned Michael about being pelted with Captain Crunch and just to keep singing?.. one of the hazards of the job.
I have never danced so much, sang every word to every song so loud as I have at nb’s concerts. Other concert-goers may finally get some peace.
But with Mike at the mic, I don’t plan to quiet down soon.
I love your ways. I hope you and Summer can
continue your paths and who knows….. start a family?
Nothing like having a child to really test your ways!
and dude!, thanks for the Purple book.
My walk continues to be an amazing journey.
Thanks for opening the door.

Hello Peter:
I just wanna say thank you for all the work that u did, for blessing our lives with ur songs, ur voice and ur words. May God bless you in everything you do, everywhere you go and keep up the good work, keep bringing the youth to the altar and keep teaching that worship is not just singing but living a life different and with an open heart to honor God in all that we do… once again thank you for everything…
March 27th, 2009 on 8:22 pm
Peter,
You know that you are truly loved and we have ALWAYS respected the “God Anointed” relationship that you share with Summer. You have always been like a brother to me (us) and I will continue to lift your marriage in prayer. I am honored to have known you throughout all these years. We never expected anything more from you than to call you our friend. I’m sorry that it ended, but I will always treasure newsboys music and your dedication to Our Lord Jesus Christ. Your season is now Summer.
You will always have a place in our hearts. It’s all good!
God bless

It amazes me how much you have done and how long you went with the band, Peter. We are all greatly thankful to our Lord for having such a gift as you. It is a pleasure to hear you will stick around and we will hear your songs again. It would be a good thing to see you perform once in a while, yet. To the whole band I want to say that you guys are amazing. Saw you live at Lifest in the great state of Wisconsin (jk). The energy and the feeling of beloning to the music and the unity of God was unbelievable and will always stay with me. Keep up the good work and God bless you all!

Dear Peter,
Thanks for the many years of reaching people through your awesome, God given talent!!! I am blessed to have been able to attend the GO Tour concert in Oct 2007 in SC. What an awesome concert! Your music touches my life so much as well as many others. Sad to see you leave the NB but know you are doing the Lord’s will.
My son, who is 9, loves to hear your/NB music. I can’t tell you how many times I have had to play Breakfast in Hell for him on our way to school. He is learning to play the guitar and wants to start a Christian band one day. He is really inspired by you and the NB. He would love to see the NB in concert so maybe we may get the opportunity in a few weeks in Atlanta.
We will be praying for you, your wife/family and NB. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to the ministry. You will be missed.
Keep on Serving Him!!!

Pete words can’t describe the sadness that i feel in your passing the torch as lead singer. i know that the newsboys have changed hands countless times please do not be confused with the term “changing hands” from breaking up
changing hands means one person leaves a group another steps in his/her place and breaking up Well u know what that is so
you guys {like point of grace} now officially change hands.
God Bless you as you {like the song says Shine and glorify the Lord.
and to my dc talk brother Michael tait you are like what the song “Godsend” says a blessing from above
God Bless you
Love you

Peter, I’m on the verge of tears thinking back on the many moments in my life in which the newsboys were there to help me sing to the Lord. Thank you so much! Your ministry has impacted my life in so many ways, I cannot thank you enough. The Go album was the soundtrack for our recent mission trip to Asia and the words you spoke I believe were God-breathed. He’s teaching us through your songs and giving us a vehicle for worship. Thank you and God bless you.

The Newsboys have been an influence and a constant in my life for close to 20 years and I can’t thank you all enough for all you’ve done to influence, inspire and uplift my walk with the Lord. You have been a blessing to me and to millions of people and even though the band will continue to be so, you will be greatly missed Peter. All I can do is pray that God continue to shower you with His blessings in all you do. Much, much love, Carlos

To All, I was shocked and amazed at the same time tonight at Overlake Christian Church. I wondered all week why I kept hearing that ‘The Newsboys and Peter F’ were going to be in town tonight. I bought my ticket several months ago.
To the new Newsboys: God Bless All of you. One thing I learned tonight is that we are not to worship a ‘band’. We have to worship The Lord. Yes, Peter, we will miss you. But, the Newsboys have always focused on HIM, OUR SAVIOUR, FATHER, CREATOR.
Nothing else matters.
Yes, it was a shock tonight, but, The Lord Is In Control.
I walked out of the church tonight feeling bittersweet. It must be hard on all involved with the Newsboys. Especially the New Members. Chill. It’s going to be OK. This is a good lesson.
Peter, you have given it all for 22 years. You deserve a rest. Only The Lord knows what tomorrow will bring.
Love, Your Sister-In-Christ

Pete, you have been such a blessing to your fans!! And I know you will continue to be even though you won’t be on stage or recording in the studio! We’ll miss you, but I know God still has awesome plans for the newsboys!
March 28th, 2009 on 7:55 am
Someday, maybe when you are finally “Home”, you will see just how many lives you and the Newsboys have touched. My husband had the blessing of interviewing the Newsboys at Atlanta Fest in the ’80s and had followed your ministry until the day he died in ‘97. He was only 37 and he requested that “Shine” be played at his funeral so he could continue to show God’s love even after his earthly death. Thank you…
March 28th, 2009 on 2:49 pm
I have to say I’m saddened by the news. Pete, you have been the face of Newsboys for so long, and being the last original member, it’s hard to imagine Newsboys going on without you. Although I can’t think of anyone on the planet who deserves a little rest and relaxation more than you!
You will definitely be missed and I don’t say that to minimize the presence of Michael Tait, who is a wonderful singer, and a fantastic choice as a replacement. It’s just hard to imagine that your shiny noggin isn’t going to be bouncing all over the stage anymore. I loved your energy live!!!
Take care of yourself and your family, may God bless you and keep you, and Thank you for all the great music and testimony you have inspired me and the world with over the last 20 plus years!
Hat’s off to you mate!,

WOW. First the big shocker was when Phil had left and was replaced with a Mac. Now Pete, the lead. As a lover of music, not to detract from any of the other amazing musicians/members, the image of the Newsboys that first pops in my head has always been Phil and Pete. Sort of like other bands, say the chili peppers who have Anthony and Flea, etc, they were the “main” members if you will, while the others throughout the years would come and go. I have only listened/participated in Christian music for about five years but this one comes as a big shocker to me personally.
I have been blessed to see the Newsboys several times over the past years and I can definitely say your show has been quite amazing. I guess I always just assumed the Newsboys (as I saw them) would always be around and would be a group I could introduce a new believer to for an awesome live experience, or my children when they are older. I did get to catch you on the GO tour and wow, I could not believe the level the performance was brought to with this tour, it was even more technically impressive than when I saw U2 with their Vertigo tour. Aside from the visual performance Pete has always brought a presence unlike any other with personal testimony, silly tour stories, and just great preaching and connecting his audience spiritually to their creator.
Anyway, I hope this isn’t taken the wrong way, I am definitely disappointed, but I know it isn’t about me, it is about Pete, and he has put in many many years of his life into this band, what an awesome ride I’m sure. Thank you for the wonderful worship music, and amazing performances you have blessed me and my family with. God bless and take care.

I am still supprised that Peter is leaving the Newsboys as front man. Your music has been an inspriation to me. I will continue to pray for you and to support you through buying your music. Good luck to you.

Thank you for posting your farwell note. All I can say is thank you for 22 amazing years, i will definetally miss the aussie sound of the Newsboys. Last night my dad and I went to the Redmond, Wa. concert and we both enjoyed it. It will take time to get used to Michael Tait as the lead singer, but I think i will always be a Newsboys fan. All the Newsboys concerts I’ve been to have been my best concert experiences, and I thank God for you and the guys for making it so great. Peace

Wow! I am blown away by the news that your leaving Peter! I am almost in tears! You have been so influential in my walk with Christ, your music has been the rock that always brings me back home when I start to stray off the path. When I am down I can on a Newsboys cd and I am picked up and able to face whatever problems I may be facing.
You guy were the very band I ever saw in concert and I bought your “Take me to your leader” cd and wore it out because I listened to it so much!! LOL! I love you guys!!! I have always liked DC Talk and Mike will be great as the frontman for the Newsboys, but alas it won’t be the same!
I am kicking myself for not getting the money together to go see you guys when your last in medford, oregon. I had hoped someday to meet and personally thank you for all you have done for even when you didn’t know me.
With Love and Blessings to you and your wife and may the Newsboys keep on rocking for the Lord till he comes to take us home!!!

Peter I hate to see you. You are the reason I began to love Christian music. When I saw your face on a sign at my church,Abundant Living Faith Center in El Paso, TX, I fell in love. Then I got the privilege to see you all in concert. You are all amazing.

Hey Peter,
I was at the Newsboys concert yesterday in Abbotsford. I was totally crushed to see you weren’t there because I thought you would be! It just wasn’t the same. :’( I’m glad you’ll be getting to spend more time with your family and everything. Michael Tait seems like a nice guy and all, but he’s not you. You have an awesome heart for God! Newsboys will never be the same without you.

Were gonna miss you Peter.
Thanks for making one more album , it’ll be
cherished by so many fans.
May God bless you , always.

Thank you for the farewell message. Your music has gotten me through some tough times in my walk with the Lord. I have been to quite a few shows over the years. Truly the best concerts I have ever been too. Really Spirit filled evenings. I’ll miss you but you definitely made the right choice in choosing Michael Tait. I was at the Redding CA show this past Monday night and he did a great job. It was still a Newsboys show. It was Gods will in the “passing of the baton” from you to him. I am glad that you will continue with the boys behind the scenes. I will continue to pray for all of you as this new chapter of your lives starts.
God Bless all of you.

I doubt I have anything to add to what’s already been said. I’m glad you won’t be totally gone Pete. God bless you. Welcome Michael. :]

Peter,
Yours was the first voice I clung to when I first started listening to K-Love. I loved the Newsboys music, and I could tell it was your voice! I recently heard your live album from Houston, and your testimony reminded me of why I love you and the Newsboys. Your ministry has touched my heart and the hearts of many others. I pray that your new stage in life brings you much joy and happiness in the Lord.
God bless you!

Thank you Peter for your unselfish dedication. God has used you in a miraculous way. Your lyrics and music glorifies and personifies our Lord God and Saviour. I love the freshness that comes from your songs. They are as solid as a rock and as liberating as a bird in the open sky. I just plain go crazy for your music and I praise God for his gift poured into you. I am thankful that you will still be writing songs, that is great. I have had the opportunity to see you in concert about 4 times, I can see why this work is taxing, you and your band put so much energy in each concert. God will continue to bless you and your family for he is faithfull and never disappoints. “I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” Jeremiah 29:11 THANK-YOU, your sister in Christ, Judy

Dear Peter,
The Newsboys have and always will be a part of our hearts and our soul. You guys have been apart of our lives for quite sometime from Mount Union PA all the way down south to Savannah, Ga. We will miss you dearly and will continue to listen to the Newsboys. You have touched our lives with the praise and the glory of god and the messages you bring us. We love you and hope the best for you. Good luck in everything you do.. “its all gods children singing glory glory, hallelujah he reigns, he reigns.” I could not put the whole song so I figured I would put the course. We will continue to support the newsboys in what ever they bring to us we now that it will be a good show just like always. God has done a wonderful thing by putting the glory of him in you guys, Keep up the good music and praise in Jesus name.

Peter,
We recently found out that we are expecting another child and so one morning at breakfast we told our boys that we had a surprise. I asked my 4 year old if he could guess what our secret was and he replied, “Well…I suppose that Peter is staying in the band.” I cried because I have successfully passed on a passion to my little darlings! We will miss you as the frontman but we are so happy for you and Summer and that God has kept you close to his heart.
All our love from PA,

Peter,
I am an old rocker…. Your new album is just so uplifting. I have been listenting to Hands of God on repeat for an hour now and can’t get enough of it. I came late in life to Christian Rock but was blessed enough to see you at two Rock the Sound concerts.. I listen to your music daily. It really draws me closer to God. I am really happy that both my boys got to see you perform. Thanks for your contribution to God’s mission. I am sure you have helped bring so many people to be his disciples. Enjoy the break with your family and may God continue to bless all of you.
Hope to see you back in the land of the Frozen Chosen the North East of the US later in life. Eph 2:8-9

Peter,
God has truely blessed you in giving you such a talent. My boys and I have love your music. We all saw you in Houston for the Go Tour the first time through and it just hooked my boys even more to Chirstian music. They love the News Boys and look forward to more great songs from you and the new sound from the band.May God continue to bless you in your life. Thank you for hearing his call! We will miss you, your voice has its own special quality. Looking forward to the new CD.

Peter, your songs and your words have been a huge blessing to me for over 15 years. As I have gone from teenager myself to mother and gone through tough times, your songs have been often what has kept me going. You always point your fans to the feet of Christ. I will dearly miss you. I welcome Michael Tait, but I will miss you!
March 30th, 2009 on 2:40 am
Peter, you are an amazing man of God.
While I have been crying my eyes out about this (especially seeing as it is just a couple days past my ‘one-year anniversary’ of my first ever Newsboys concert) I know that, well, it’s ‘in the hands of God’!
God inspired me through the newsboys concert in Adelaide in 07 to write my own songs and get up and sing for youth services and even at our local Youth Alive alongside Alabaster Box!
Thankyou for the many years of not only your amazing voice and musical talent, but your wonderful, funny, beautiful, friendly personality and willingness to help out in so many areas. I will miss you very much!!!
God Bless
Lizzie

I remember the days of the old dodge van very well! My first encounter with the Newsboys was in a simple church basement when I was in high school … my last was in a packed theater with all sorts of bells and whistles and pyrotechnics and flying confetti. Both were unforgettable nights and I’m sure that the first time I see the “new” Newsboys with Michael will be also unforgettable. I look forward to that … and to seeing where God leads you and Summer in the future!

My life would be completely different if it weren’t for your ministry. Your music gave me so much strength to get through high school and college. I’m sharing your music with my baby daughter as she grows. Thank you for keeping Jesus at the forefront.

Dear Peter,
It seems not too long ago, I was at Kingdom Bound looking for something to do during the day when I saw on the schedule that the newsboys were playing volleyball. Well I had heard a song or two and thought I would check it out. Here were these guys in 90 degree weather wearing their army boots, leather jackets and shorts playing volleyball and talking to one another in the coolest accents I had ever heard. I was one of maybe 30 people there to watch you guys. I went to the concert that night and have been hooked to the music ever since. But watching you grow in Christ through your music as I have grown in Christ over the years is what brings me sadness as well as joy for this new adventure in life for you and Summer. It does seem to be a year of transition for many in the Body of Christ. With you moving on , John and Sherry moving on from KLOVE and even for my husband and I moving into something exciting for God.These last days are going to exciting. God bless you, Peter and Summer.

Peter, just found out you are leaving..so saddened.Wow.I HOPE YOU READ THIS. You have truly blessed me and now my children, over the years. Your music has been there through so many personal battles in my life. You have inspired me and kept me moving on in my relationship with God. The Newsboys have meant SO MUCH to me. From NEVER missing a concert I could get to, where praising God with thousands of people over the years was so real and memorable, to praying for your ministry as you gave the message of God’s love to so many. THANK YOU SO MUCH PETER. God bless you and Summer. Glad to hear you will still be writing music, the lyrics you write are so special to many of us. We love you.

Peter,
My heart is absolutely breaking.
But I know you need to be home.
Your voice reminds me God is close, your encouraging words to me personally at M&G after M&G have put me in a better place.
The times in my life when I feel helpless and weak, your voice comes in my head in some beautiful song, and you remind me, that God has his arms around me still.
Honestly, I didn’t know that till I heard your music.
So, thank you.
Thank you for keeping us in God’s grip, and reminding us over and over.
I really could not thank you enough - for your sacrifice for us - to get God’s words in our ears in a way we needed to hear it, with joy.
I will intently miss seeing you.
Thank you for all the years of stress you endured for us.
We appreciate it more than you could ever know.
You were surely annointed by God for the work you do.
Please keep writing for us your beautiful lyrics.
I feel honored to be on this earth at the same time as such a lovely disciple as you.
I will be ever praying for you and Summer, that you are ever showered in God’s love.

Peter,
The Newsboys were a big part of Creation East for me. As we grow and mature(yes age) in the great journey God is leading us on, it’s bittersweet when change comes. God Bless you on His new path of service. I am glad my husband went to the mosh pit the last time we were at Creation and Newsboys performed. A side of him the grandkids didn’t see and I’m glad I did!
March 30th, 2009 on 5:23 pm
I grew up listening to the Newsboys from “Not Ashamed” to present, and I finally had the chance to see them in concert in ‘07. It was then that I realized what an impact they have on the Christian community and they will always be a gateway for new believers and a rock there after.
Peter,
You, and the band, will be in our prayers and we wish you all the best of luck.
God Bless

Dear Peter and Summer:
Enjoy your time together, it is so richly deserved.
Thank you for all the years of musical enjoyment you have shared with your fans, and the lesson that being “Christian” doesn’t mean staid, stodgy, or boring. God has a sense of humour (after all, He created giraffes, aardvarks, the platypus and … us!) so we need to remember to have humour in our lives as well.
From the first time I saw the band (VERY early 90s, 91 or 92, I think, Shea’s Performing Arts Centre, Buffalo, NY) to the last concert at Kingdom Bound (my neice Julie’s very first trip to an amusement park AND her very first concert), I have appreciated the way that Christ comes through first and foremost in the music.
While your presence on-stage shall be missed, knowing that your spirit and enthusiasm will always be with “the boys” makes this break a little easier to take. Please know that you have raised up a great army, all those fans who will continue to listen to the music and spread the word of the love of Christ through your lyrics. What an incredible gift of God you (and all the members of the band, past and present) have been to us all! Thank you!
Yours in Him,
mary

Peter, I first got to know about the Newsboys music through my teenagers playing your songs on a trip we made to Oregon. I was blown away with the depth of meaning and deepfelt heart for God in your songs. God has since used you mightily in encouraging me and no doubt many others through your ensuing music. You will be missed greatly as lead singer but I can hardly wait for the songs you will be able to write when you have more time to do it. Having Michael to sing them will be great too. All the best and thanks for your ministry and the sacrifices you have made to bless many over the years.

Thank you Peter. I had the privilege of catching the Newsboys several times and the show was always great. Michael will fit well.
Peace and God bless,

Querido Peter,
Bjs!!!

My first reaction was, “WHAT?” It was selfish. I’m a gramma & am still so blessed when listening to the music, live, CD, or radio. I’ve been praying for each of your marriages/families, & for the messages the music & talks-that all will be for His glory, & will draw all to Him. What a blessed time of meeting heaven will be! To be in the eternal place with Yeshua / Jesus. THANK YOU ALL for all the personal sacrifices made to do work for the King of Glory! Change, yet stay the same in His Spirit. Peter, may you & Summer walk in oneness with the Lord, & be an example to the rest of us. Thank you again, Gramma Sher from Virginia.

“Well done, good and faithful servant…for this phase of your life and ministry.” I’m sure the Lord is saying as he gives you a warm embrace.
I took a van full of young teen girls to the GO concert in Roseville, CA. It was for my daughter’s 14th birthday. What an awesome memory for the kiddos. I’m sure it has been repeated many times over through the years for countless families. What a blessing you and the NB’s have been in the work of God!
Best of luck/grace/faith in the future!
I look forward to Michael Tate’s part in the NB!
Blessings,
Dave Nelson

Dear Peter, Thank you so much for writing us, it helps to hear it from you. It helps to hear your reasons for why you stopped singing, and for you to assure us since we were left wondering why. I am so GLAD to know that you are safe, healthy and doing well, and for everything you said. THANK YOU for the CD that is coming, it means a LOT to me, and surely to many, many people. I’ll be sure to get it.
About your decision, I totally understand, and to be honest, if I were you I would do the same thing. The time feels right. You are wise. Also, if I were in your position-if I had to pick a singer to take my place–I would definitely pick Michael Tait as my first choice too. -Because even though it’s been hard for me to let you go and accept that you stopped singing for Newsboys, still, at the same time, it DOES comfort me to know that Michael Tait–(out of all the people in the world)-will be taking your place. Knowing he will be there–DOES help comfort me, and even makes me smile, while I’m adjusting to this transition. -because Michael is a wonderful person with one of the most incredible voices in the world!
I think you made the right choice, and did the right thing. Plus, it makes me smile and happy to know that Michael will be in the spotlight again, with a big audience and platform. I feel he was meant to be in this position, he deserves it, so I am very HAPPY that you gave it to him. It is another reason why I like you so much! Thank you for giving us Michael Tait-for real!
I think I just needed some time to accept this change-I’m glad I was able to say goodbye to you through this website and to THANK YOU for all you gave to us (fans). At first it seemed kinda unbelievable, there were even some moments that it almost seemed like someone was playing a joke on us!-because it was definitely not anything we ever expected!!! But I guess surprises are good, and the more I have TIME to get used to the idea, the more I am EXCITED to see him in concert as the official lead singer. It will be wonderful to hear Tait again, and so I am beginning to really LIKE the idea (never thought I would say that!). But GOD is helping me to have PEACE about this change-so He is the real reason why I am able to truly accept and be glad about it. Once again, lastly, I can’t thank YOU enough for everything Peter.
Love and Peace to you too,
Lori

Oh Peter.. If my family and I had only had the chance to see you in concert.. God moves my house when we play your “Houston GO” DVD on our 60′ tv. My kids (4, 6 &
each have their own favorite song. God speaks to us through your music. We have only been fans of yours for the past 3-months as we were turned on to your music from a friend. Quickly we purchased 5-CDs being that we loved your music so much. We then purchased tickets to see the Newsboys in Bakersfield, CA. Michael Tait is a Godly man with God given musical abilities. We welcomes him as a brother in Christ and supported him through prayer and worship as the supporting Newsboys cast had requested. But I must tell you that my family’s heart acked knowing that we would not see, and more importantly, hear you. You have such a blessing with your voice. Your worship and praise to our Lord and Savior through your music, just inspires and moves us; moves us to worship our Creator. Praise and Glory to God for the band Newsboys. What a great success “in the hands of God.” May you find rest and God inspired creativity to your song writing that inspires us all to praise Jesus, God the Father and the Holy Spirit.
My family doesn’t know you; but we all feel like your apart of our family through your music.
May God bless you Peter.

Hey Peter, just wanted to drop you a note of encouragment. Go where the Lord leads you. Spend time with your family. Please keep on writing songs and making cd’s if the Lord wills it.

Peter, I thank you for the years that you’ve spent touching the lives of millions around the world. I’ve grew up being a huge fan of the newsboys. I’m a drummer at heart, so you and Duncan have been my heros for all my life. It’s been a rough road for me being able to reach my generation through the music I play, and being 16 doesn’t make it any easier. Sometimes it seems like it’s impossible to reach my generation because of my age. But you (and the boys) have shown me that that doesn’t matter at all! And that when things may be rough, I’ve always got breakfast to pump me right back up again! I thank you for what you’ve done and what you will continue to do.

You will be missed !!! When I first heard the news, I was afraid you would no longer be writing…and that would have been a tragedy….I am sooooooooo glad you will still be writing songs !!! As a retired teacher, I have to add that I love your lyrics, I’ve even compared your ability to say so much in so few words to the bard himself, Shakespeare…and I know that somewhere out there, there is a very proud and happy English teacher !!! Keep writing !!!!
April 1st, 2009 on 8:27 pm
Hey Peter,
You certainly do have an annointed voice (I can even tell through the radio), and an awesome talent for writing songs. I’m glad that you will be able to be with family now. Hope you get to relax a lot! I sure will miss you as leader of the Newsboys. Take care and God Bless!!!!
April 2nd, 2009 on 8:43 am
Dear Peter–
I have seen the newsboys in concert 5 times (I think)
and it seems I can’t get enough! Not only do I love your music but your presence and message is so powerful. God has used the newsboys is a powerful way. You are the Billy Graham of a new generation!
I am praying for you because I thought you looked like you might be ill lately at your concert in Seattle. Even if you aren’t, I’ll still pray for you.
And Michael Tait. I saw him with DC Talk in Seattle probably 10 years ago. Good choice!! I thought the
handing of the baton was flawless at this concert in Seattle. God is doing a wonderful thing through the newsboys.
My prayers are with you. May God continue to bless you. Thank you all for using the gifts that God has lavished upon you.
In Him- Susan

Peter,
It has been an honor and a privelge to be able to listen to your music over the many years that I have been a HUGE Newsboys fan. I actually got to see you guys years ago when you came to Jacksonville, Florida at the University Of North Florida Arena. It was AWESOME! Your music has touched me beyond words. I will miss you terribly, but God has called you to another destiny.
Love and God’s Blessings,

Newsboys has visited my hometown twice now, and both times I didn’t go because I just didn’t want to spend the money. I tried hard to win tickets through our Christian radio station, but I’m just not quick enough to guess the titles of songs played backwards. Now I’m really sorry that I didn’t just buy tickets. I’ve enjoyed DC talk, Michael Tate is an extraordinary talent, and I’m sure the Newsboys will go on serving God and making great music. I’ve noticed that the band’s roster has been changed many times and kept going - that says alot about the band!
Do you think you and Phil might consider a road trip to Canada sometime?
April 2nd, 2009 on 11:38 am
Peter, you will be missed. Thank you for all your years of service to the Lord. The first time I heard the Newsboys was at Autumn Blaze when it was at Zeraphath N.J. I believe it was the Thrive Tour. I’ve been to four other concerts since. I pray that God will bless you in all your future endeavors.
April 2nd, 2009 on 1:22 pm
I am very proud of you Peter Furler. You are the man of god. I really dont know you but I know that god is very proud of you. I really love your band. Thanks to god and god bless you Peter and Newsboys.
April 2nd, 2009 on 7:35 pm
Wow, Peter, maybe this was a VERY difficult decision and maybe it was as easy as falling. Either way, I’m sure it was not without it’s joys and pains. I thank you for the work you - and the Newsboys - have done so far and how it has touched my life.
That being said, I wish you had waited just one more month to leave the band. Selfish me. I was at the recent show in Denver and although Michael was great, he just wasn’t you and what I went to hear and see was the Newsboys with Peter.
God bless you mightily.
April 2nd, 2009 on 8:13 pm
Dear Peter, I’ve never met you but I’ve seen you live in concert. I’ve seen your DVD one night in Pennsylvania many times. I just discovered the Newsboys in 2005 and I am still discovering songs which are old but new to me. I am happy for you that you have this opportunity to get some much needed rest after years of working so hard but of course, it is saddening. You have left us (fans) though with a large treasury of music so that will get us through. I just want to say thanks so much for creating this awesome music. I’ll probably never meet you but I consider you a great friend. There were times when I also felt you were my minister. Then there were times I felt you were my head doctor. I was going through some really crummy stuff in 2005 which I won’t discuss with you but I will say, discovering your music in the midst of some horrible stuff I was experiencing was serious medicine for me. I was so thrilled to discover that I didn’t have to listen to the same run of the mill worship tape (God forgive me) over and over that there was actually some very decent excellent God music out there such as yourselves. I will remain awestruck by your talent and your heart for the Lord for years to come. You see, I know something about you. It comes through in your music. It’s your heart for the Lord. I know that what you created was so much more than music. My eyes are watery and I’m crying here because I know what you’ve done for me and for alot of people. I know that no Christian musician if he has it all going for him: knowledge of music, instruments, great voice, able to write-he is nothing if he doesn’t have a great heart and passion for the Lord to go with these talents. I’ll stop here but thanks again I say with watery eyes-thank you so so much for every lyric and every note………………..
April 2nd, 2009 on 9:05 pm
All I got to say is keep up the good work thing will peel thourh and God keep you under his wing always.

Peter,
Thank you for sharing with us. you will be truly missed. i just saw a concert with Micheal Tait as the lead vocalist and at first i wasn’t sure but once i got over the fact that he doesn’t have an Australian accent i absolutely loved the concert. i was blessed enough to shake Micheal’s hand after the show. God bless you Peter and God bless Tait as he does God’s will.

Dear Peter,
And Michael Tait, you have amazing talent. We welcome you with both arms. The future of newsboys will be very different without Phil and now you. But we still love and encourage you guys! All us fans will be adjusting with you. It has been an amazing journey throughout the band’s career. Starting all the way back at Read All About It, not a single album deserves to go unsold. Peter, your talent has been the cornerstone of it’s success and I don’t know how it will continue without you. But, I do know that you guys are strong enough TO continue and God will be the how. Welcome Tait, welcome back Jody. Peter we love you and are sad to see you go. No one can sing or write like you do. Dunny, Jeff, stay strong. We love you guys!!!
I can’t believe you are leaving!!! This will definitely a huge transition! It’s so awesome that Jody has returned, welcome back!
Love, Amy

Peter, if only you could know how much you and the rest of the band has helped me in my Christian walk. I was going to Harvard for my Master’s to teach and 6 weeks before my graduation I went into a coma with viral encephalitis. I made it to graduation but I have a short term memory problem with names so I can’t teach and be God’s witness in the schools. I didn’t remember Who God was for about 6 months after the coma and since I had to learn how to read again, I listened to your CD’s to hear about God. I am in the process of writing a devotional and whenever I need a break from the computer I listen to your music. No other Christian group has EVER given me such ENERGY and JOY - so thank you! We will really miss your singing! At least we know that we’ll be hearing it again in heaven!
April 3rd, 2009 on 8:54 pm
i remember when your band openfor our drama team back in 1987, in sarasota for bash at the beach with michele talone from sound of light and WJIS, it has been a incredible journey, will miss your voice

I just wanted to thank all of you for your uplifting music. I saw you in Del Mar, Ca. last year. OUTSTANDING! I also saw Michael, in March 09. You guys are still incredibly uplifting! My husband and I got to “meet the band.” We will keep you guys in our prayers and Peter, We Love You!
God Bless Always!

I was blessed to see the boys playing at a local church in Redmond WA, OverLake Christian Church. We heard rumors Michael was going to be lead singer, and we were not disappointed. I enjoyed the worship side of the music Michael will bring to the band. I enjoyed watching him perform with DC Talk and I really enjoyed watching him perform with the Newsboys. Great pick for a replacement Peter. A man who lons to serve the Lord. You could not have asked for a better performance than what Michael gave. However, I must say when you came out on stage at the end, the crowd went crazy. We will miss you, but I know your unique touch will still be in the songs. God Bless and Stay Strong.

I am 7 years old and I really love your music. I wish I could have saw you in the concert
I will miss you but I will keep on listening to your awesome songs!! Mom is going to buy your DVD so we can keep seeing you!!
April 5th, 2009 on 11:19 am
Dear Peter,
It’s really disappointing to see you go. I’ve loved newsboys since I’ve first starting listening to Christian music nine years ago (I’m 14), and I still love your music. I’m going the the concert on May 2nd at Aurora Christian High School (my first newsboys concert), does this mean you won’t be there? I live in the Chicagoland area and I’ve always wanted to meet you and the band, but it’s just so sad to see your time with the band come to an end. I’d really like to meet you and the band, or at least see you on stage. Well, that’s just how life works. You and the band have done amazing things through music, and I’ll still love your music for years to come. God bless you!

Thank you for your ministry, you are truly an inspiration!

Thank you, Peter, for your announcement to us. I am so glad I got to see the Newsboys 4 times from March 2007 (Chicago) to September 2008 (Tulsa). All 4 times were with you, Paul, Duncan, & Jeff. I am 60 and until I went to a DC Talk concert in the fall of 1999 didn’t believe that contemporary Christian music was worthy. DC Talk changed all that, and I became a Newsboys fan in the fall of 2006 after the release of “GO.” Those 4 Newsboys concerts were the best I have ever been to, and my wife and I worshipped God at them while listening to the music we love.
I wish I had seen the old Newsboys, with Phil and Jody. If the ‘boys swing by southwest Missouri again, I will plan to see the new Newsboys with Michael Tait. Hey, maybe by that time Phil will be back.
Thanks for your years of service to the fans through the Newsboys, and thanks for your testimonials at each concert. Even though I saw them 4 times and they were pretty much word-for-word the same each time (except for your dancing in Chicago in 2007), they were always fresh to us. And may InPop Records continue to introduce us to new groups like newworldson and Article One.
Perhaps we will see you on stage some time in the future….

Peter thank you so so sooo much, from a Kiwi who has been inspired from your music since he was 11 years old, im 26 so i wont even begin to remind how long you have been on your journey with God. I remember listening to Going public and Take me to your leader on tape (yes tape, remember those?) over and over while i did my paper run (also Dc talk - Jesus Freak!!), so i thank you Peter for the gift of your voice all these years and the amazing support you have had in proclaiming the Kingdom. I was glad you see you when you played at Parachute and I had an amazing praise’n'whorship experience with you guys leading it! I wish Micheal all the best as he brings in his amazing testimony of being with Dc talk and being solo. I look forward in hearing his voice within blessed music that you make…
Always with you in all the you do.
I live in the UK now please come over

Peter
Iam sitting here writing this listening to you singing “He Reigns” hearing the power and presence of God in your voice thinking of how greatly you will be missed. You have been such a blessing to me as have all the Newsboys. The first time I heard Stay Strong , I was going through a very rough patch in my walk with Jesus .I was so overwhelmed that I had to pull over to the roadside and praise God . Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your sacrifice and for allowing God to work through you to touch so many.
May the Lord bless and keep you!

Dearest Brother in Christ,
I just wanted to let you know it has been an honor and a blessing to experience you and the Holy Spirit’s working through you everytime I go to a newsboys concert. As a Youth Pastor all the teens that God has brought my way have also been blessed by your many gifts over the years. I will always pray for more blessings (and great songs) to abound all around and through you! I also pray that I and the Youth Ministry will be blessed to see you once again on this last tour as you pass the baton to Michael. I am in Miami and I pray the band is rescheduled to perform here! Cause wherever we go that’s where the party’s at!!!!! You are loved!!
See you at the foot of the Cross,
Perian <
April 7th, 2009 on 6:37 pm
I am sorry to hear that you will be leaving the newsboys as lead singer. I am glad, however, that you are still writing. God has given you a great talent and He has anointed your voice to sing His praise and your hand to write godly songs to uplift and encourage. You have done a wonderful job of being a witness through music to the world.
Some of my favorite Christian songs come from this group, like ‘Something Beautiful’, ‘Million Pieces’, ‘Entertaining Angels’, ‘Shine’, ‘Everywhere We Go’, and, especially, ‘Stay Strong’. I just heard ‘Stay Strong’ for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and it came at a time I really needed it. That song is wonderful!
Please continue to do what God has called you to do and let us know when you will be appearing in concert. I know Michael will be a good replacement, I grew up listening to DC Talk and he has a great voice, too, but it won’t be the same. I hope he is up to the challenge!

I was shocked to hear the news about the changing of the guard with Newsboys. I have been a fan for so many years. Peter, you are gifted by God and have been used by Him to reach thousands, no, millions of people, young and old, across the globe. You are gracious in your exit off the “main stage” and I look forward to seeing where God is going to take the Newsboys in the future with a very talented and gifted young man in Tait. Can’t wait, but you will be missed. Entertaining angels is my all time favorite song. My 5 year old son loves the Newsboys and sings all the songs we hear on the radio. God bless you Peter, on your new adventure and may God continue to use you mightily!
April 9th, 2009 on 9:56 am
God bless you Peter from Holland, Europe! I’ve been blessed by all the songs you’ve written, and which by Gods grace & love were performed by the Newsboys. After listening to some songs of “In the hands of God”, I believe you’ve written and kept the best for last! Of course I wish Michael Tait all grace to succeed; but your unique voice and person are irreplaceable. May the Lord bless you in His further Furler service!
April 9th, 2009 on 2:50 pm
Hey Peter! I have been a Newsboys fan since the ‘Shine’ days. I support you in your decision and understand your reasoning. I was shocked and a bit disappointed to hear that you were leaving the group since I will get to see the band for the first time this summer at Spirit Song Festival in July, but with your kind words about Michael, I’ll give him the same welcome from my seat as I would have you! After all, I was also a DC Talk fan back in the day, so I know his talent, and hearing that you picked him helps make it easier to accept him in his new role. *hugs* I wish you all the best and will continue to pray for you and the band. GOD BLESS YOU BUNCHES!

Wishing Peter and his all the best that God can give!!
A parody by Toby Ramsey of
Breakfast - Newsboys
Hold the mike, put back the guitar
We are powerless to control
Peter Furler’s bit of rashness
When he changed his Newsboys’ role
Breakfast clubbers, we have got to
See this not as some defeat
It is easy to feel downcast
When your hero takes a seat
Each time we messed up and our zeal was soft
Every concert he’d talk grace and hold our Lord aloft
Oh, none of us knew his backstage time would come so soon
But until his brain stops waving he’ll compose his tunes
We show our concern
About the way this turned
Though we know you’re not waving farewell
When this message finds you
May this fan remind you
When we don’t have “Breakfast” it’s hell
Breakfast clubbers, drop the hankies
For he’s still a friend of God
And because of all this drama
Michael Tait has got a job
Those here without the Lord, how do you cope
For this morning we don’t mourn like those who have no hope
Oh, rise up, Fruit Loop lovers sing out sweet and low
With spoons held high, we bid our brother “Cheerio!”
We show our concern
About the way this turned
Though we know you’re not waving farewell
When this message finds you
May this fan remind you
When we don’t have “Breakfast” it’s hell
God bless ‘im!!

Newsboys,
What an adventure you have been on for so many years. Watching some unforgettable faces join your side for a short while or years has been incredible. Seeing them leave has been heartbreaking. I have been blessed year after year to see your worship service at KINGDOM BOUND at 6 Flags Darien Lake in New York. Regretably Ive only ever had time to see the second half of your shows because I was always torn between you and Skillet who always managed to play the same night as you all the way on the other side of the Park. Im tired of running between shows. This past year (08) I had a wonderful opportunity to see your entire performance closing out the night after “delirious?” (one of their final shows). I was relieved to see that again this year I would be able to see your entire worship service….but was also quite distraught to find out (literally one day later) that you (Peter) were taking a “bow out” so to speak from the spotlight on center stage (even though you were all over the place).
I was encouraged when I managed to get my father in for the kingdom bound event a few years ago. He had wanted to see you for some time. I walked very slowly through the whole park with him just to get him to the PAC where you guys lead worship that night. He enjoyed the concert so much. Ironically he was just listening to your CD yesterday. I digress.
My fondest memory to date of the NEWSBOYS worship service at KB has been sitting on a blanket over the cold dew covered grassy hill that on certain occasions becomes a giant mud slide. I enjoyed so much watching the fireworks off in the distance as you, Peter, would pause in the midst of your set and share the Gospel in your own unique way. Your sincerity and compassion and soft words were always a comfort for me…yet on many occasions made me think. Sometimes placing into perspective the things I needed to change or things I needed to be reminded of. Encouragement when I needed it. And as Im not worried so much about the musical aspect of whats to come, I sincerely hope this one on one (as much as a single person can be with thousands of people at once) portion of the event is not forgotten…and continues on.
When I think of Newsboys there are a few songs that come to mind. The first one being “Not Ashamed”. This is the first song I ever fell in love with that you recorded.
“raindrops” wasnt far behind…
then “like a well watered garden whose spring never fails….your my spring that never fails”…i cant remember the title of that one for the life of me. Needless to say it comforted me in some of my darkest hours.
However perhaps the most memorable songs I will ever recall your voice singing are “entertaining angels”, the “breakfast” song..and of course “glory glory hallelujah He reigns”.
I know the passion will remain the same. And I know the music will be loved by myself and so many others. It will be different. But I look forward to it.
I missed out on my opportunity to meet you. Perhaps one destiny driven day we will cross paths and I can share my heart and soul with you and we can pray for/with eachother…though I will pray for you anyways.
Michael Tait, welcome aboard. Do not be discouraged by the naysayers (i know i spelled that wrong)!!
You will do fine…NEWSBOYS will THRIVE as long as God intends it to. I saw someone post a comment on a picture about Peter being the heart of this group…I think the person was mistaken…Jesus is the heart of this band…No performer, frontman, musician, or band will ever take that spotlight. You will do more than just fine! Im excited to hear what you will do with the ‘boys. Im excited to say that I am still full throttle on coming to your worship service this year…at KINGDOM BOUND ‘09!!!!…Michael Tait…are you ready to lead a generation that is kingdom bound in true worship?! I think so….
On a side note Mr. Tait…I missed a very important concert by a friend of mine who is a wonderful musician in this area…a certain piano player with big fro like hair and a harmonica…you played the concert with him….and I missed it.
“theres one thing that no one denies….hes a pretty good guy”…remember?
All in all what I really wanted to say is…I think Im gonna go out and buy every NEWSBOYS album so I dont forget how that Peter guy sounded with the crew…haha
Peter, you will be missed greatly and definitely not forgotten. Many Blessings!
Michael, your microphone awaits. We are eager. Lead us in worship!
To All of You
As one mentioned above.
“…So do not fear for I am with you, says the Lord, do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand…”

Peter,
Thank you for your unfailing dedication throughout the years. My dad introduced me to newsboys when I was five years old and also gave me my first cd, which happened to be Going Public (Lights Out was my favorite song for two years), so I guess one could say that I have grown up listening to you guys. It has been a great pleasure listening to the different sounds and the band’s spiritual growth that have come through each cd. Your songs have always been an encouragement to me in times of need, or something to jam to on a roadtrip… your music never gets old!
I have always been a fan of dc Talk so when they split, of course, I followed their solo albums. Just the other week, I was talking to my dad about hearing nothing from Tait in a while, so when I attended yesterday’s (April 10th) concert at Six Flags in GA, I was shocked to see Michael Tait on stage. I hadn’t heard that you had decided to leave the group, so I was worried until Duncan said something. newsboys will never be the same with you, your accent and your bald head, but Michael Tait is such a great addition to the band and I am looking forward to what the Lord has in store for newsboys.
As for you, Peter, I wish you the best of luck. I’m sure all of the traveling, etc. has been a difficult road for you and your family. I cannot wait to hear what the Lord is doing in your life throughout this new journey.

I was going to go see the NBs in Duluth MN next week when I heard about your leaving. Then I changed my mind and cancelled my plans. After watching the video and reading you letter we (me, wife, 3 kids) have decided to go!
Best wishes and prayers going forward!

Peter- I’ve been a fan from the jump, from your first album in 1988. I worked at a booth with you guys back when Not Ashamed had come out, and even had Corey Ratboy Pryor autograph my shoes. But as the years went by and other band members came and went, you became the touchstone. The songs that you wrote and the testimony you gave have touched me for over 20 years now (!). I’ve struggled and had many trials over the years, but I have always been able to listen to your music to reconnect with God. May God bless you, and please know that you have made a real difference in my spiritual life.

I’m gonna miss you tons!!!
At this very moment while I’m writing many memories comes to my mind. One of the first shows that I attended was “Step Up The Microphone Tour” it was the most memorable show that I have ever seen in my whole life till today. I remember going back to school the next day and telling everyone about this guy who was singer and playing drums with the drummer at the same time while they were elevated and spinning almost at 90 degrees (amazing).
I was just reading today and this is what you represent over the years to me.
“Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”
1 Corinthians 15:58
May our God always bless you and take care of a great person like you and your family for many years to come and His glory be spans for the work you have done!!!!
Oh one more thing, thanks for playin in my native country Costa Rica!!!!

I waited 15 years to see Newsboys in concert, I finally had the opportunity in Redlands, CA and so I took my husband and kids-much to my surprise you, PETER, were not there! There is an obvious uniqueness to your voice that is uncomparable and my heart was so dissapointed. At the same time I commend the Newsboys fans for so graciously receiving Michael Tate and God bless him for being willing…I was two concerts shy of seeing you perform with the band…I would love to know what concerts you’ll be making guest appearances at…are they in CA?? May God richly bless all of you for your years of hardwork and dedication!

I honor you, Peter Furler. I can’t think of anyone I hold in greater esteem. Your character (not to mention your music) has Kingdom-influenced a generation, two.
You may never know how many you’ve touched in this life.
I await the Great Reunion…
Blessings, friend.

Thank you, Pete, for all of the years you put into the Newsboys. Not just the concerts, but for the outreach, messages you give, and love for people. I want to thank all of you for being part of something so great, and remaining faithful to sharing the love of Jesus with others through your music, your speech, and your lives.
I met you guys in 2007 at Raise the Roof, and I received your “Go: Remixed” album when I signed up with Global Tribe, and I loved the concert so much that I listened to it all the time. I then picked up Going Public, then Shine: The Hits, then Adoration, then the Best of album, then Thrive, and loved every minute of them.
Michael Tait is an excellent choice for a successor. I’m glad to hear it, as I loved DC Talk, and I’m excited about what God is doing with the Newsboys, and with Michael. God bless you all. Pete, Good luck in all that you do, and I’m glad to hear that you’re still going to continue writing.
P.S. Can’t wait for the new album, Peter Furler with Michael Tait, and Jamie Rowe! Sounds awesome! In the Hands of God is a great song!
April 16th, 2009 on 9:14 pm
I understand your decision but will really miss your special style of music. I want you to know how much of an influence your music has been to me. What a joyful message you have brought…you have helped me to understand that praising the Lord through song is so uplifting and a happy thing! I am sure you will hear the words “Well done my good and faithful son” for you have influenced so many to come to the Father. Thanks so very much and God bless.

Thank you Peter for all that you have contributed to the band. I just went to see the show in Duluth, Minnesota last night and it was amazing. Even though you were not there. I am excited to see where Michael Tait leads the band and cannot wait to listen to the new CD. I am sorry to hear that you are leaving but wish you all the luck with your new adventures. Thanks for everything.
Praying for you!

April 18th, 2009 on 11:59 pm
Peter, Thank you for accepting Gods mission (Newsboys and your new path) for you. God spoke through your voice to touch the hearts of those who heard you so he could bring them into His flock. Thank you to your family for helping you fulfill His work. I will miss your voice and pray that Michael’s calling and voice can touch my children’s (15 and 6) hearts to help keep them on His path. My son gives me his “Mom’s at it again” look when I have the Newsboys on and am singing “Stay Strong”.
I promised my six year old daughter that we would go to a Newsboys concert so we’ll see the new Newsboys in KC. Thank you for inspiring me to re-evaluate my faith and to participate more fully in it. I am crying as I write this because I had hoped to at least yell “Thank you” from the crowd at a concert but this will have to do. I pray that you and yours “Stay Strong”.
May God bless you and yours.

Peter thank you for the many years that you have given to us fans and for glorifying God in a way that touched us all and helped us grow in our own personal relationships with him. I rememeber the first time i was introduced to the Newsboys back in the early 90’s you guys played a concert at my church and i had a blast. Thanks for everything you and the boys have done…God Bless!!!

Peter,
You and the newsboys are an inspiration to me. your music and voice have blessed me in so many ways. God Bless You, Peter, and thank-you.
April 23rd, 2009 on 9:40 pm
Peter! I don’t know where to start. I have dreaded this day, buy am also excited about the Newsboys’ future. I want to thank you for effecting my life in such a positive way. For me it all started when I heard the song “Taste and See”. I knew immediately that it was something different and I loved it. The Newsboys was the first Christian band that I thought was good. You weren’t just good, you were awesome! My first live concert of any kind was on the Not Ashamed tour in Salem, Oregon. I was blown away. To be a fan forever. The Newsboys have brought me through life with, without, and then with Christ again. You have personally impacted my life more than you’ll ever know. Thank you, thank you and may God bless your new life with your family.

God Bless you, Peter Furler, for all you have and will do in this Christ-needy world. Your amazing translation of Christ’s personal message in your songs has delivered me from many dark days and lifted my soul to Heaven! At just the critical God-moment, your one-in-a-million voice would fill my ears and heart out of my Spirit 105.3 tuned radio. Thank you! We saw Newsboys at Overlake in March. We loved Michael and will pray for him as he carries on the message you began. We wish you, Summer, and the dog, all Joy, Love and Peace of our Lord Jesus Christ until the Day we will stand with you and once again sing His praise. Virginia and Mark Marquart

Peter, the first time I saw you was in the Jonah movie. Since then, the Lord has ministered to me through your somehow (not as an insult) strange appearance because you look so much like my schizophrenic brother Bayardo (he changed his mane to Vernon). I’m planning on showing some of the Newsboys old videos to him the next time I go to my home country were he lives.
God bless you, I understand maybe the Lord wants to protect you from something. But let me tell you that the Lord can touch my brother through those older videos. God bless you and your family forever.
May 19th, 2009 on 11:48 am
Peter,
As a Christian convert, the Newsboys have been such an inspiration to listen to and hear the word of God even when dancing. You will be incredibly missed. The new album is SO fabulous and is a wonderful way to say goodbye to so many years of painstaking dedication.
I live in The Woodlands, TX where the GO live DVD was filmed - you guys rocked the house! After seeing concerts over the last 18 years at the pavillion, nothing compared to the power of that show!
We will miss the band as was but will welcome change as is best for you and your family. Please walk in peace and the grace of our saviour, Christ the Lord.
Blessings!

Dear Peter,
It is with sadness that I read this news. However, I am confident that God will guide your path and that God will continue to bless you and the band always.
Thank you for the time that you gave us during these 20+ years. I am sorry that we are selfish and don’t wish to let you go.
You will be missed.
May God continue to bless you always.

Hi, Peter,
I want you to know that God is still using you in changing people’s lives even after you resigned as Newsboys’ lead singer. I know it’s a long note, but I want to share how your ministry influenced me recently. I noticed we have couple of things in common. Like you, I was born in 1966 and been married since 1991, also I moved to U.S. from another continent(I was 13), not from Australia though but from South Korea. Anyway, I’m not in the “young” crowd that Newsboys typically target, but God’s been targetting me using your work lately.
When I was growing up I took piano lessons learning to play classical music and surrounded by only classical music. I was very much influenced by my mom who studied Music Composition and my brother who was such an intense cello player and now playing for a symphony professionally. I served the Lord playing the piano for churches at an early age, and during these years, I received the gift of singing in tongues in the spirit. I was so amazed such beautiful songs were coming out of my mouth, at that time, I told God that I would write music for Him one day.
By the time I went to college, writing music for God was not really in my mind, and ended up majoring in Business - Corp Finance, and after I graduated, I worked in the “corporate world” for ten some years, until we had our first son. Well, my husband and I had such a strong desire to raise our son at home instead of sending him to a daycare, so my husband and I made a decision that I would stay home for a few years until our son was ready for school. To our surprise, when our first son was old enough to start attending school and I was ready to go back to work, our second son came around, and I continued to stay home.
Well, almost 7 years have passed since I’ve been away from the “corporate world” which I missed desparately, and during these years, God has been chipping away my worldly ambition, pride and identity slowly but surely, and God has been quietly whispering to me to write music for Him which I promised to twenty some years ago. I tried to run away from it first, but the voice was constantly there, so I temped to write some music here and there, but didn’t have much desire for it and wasn’t getting “music coming down from Heaven” experiences(I guess I was expecting Handel writing “Messiah” kind of experience), so I started to tell myself that all this was just in my imagination. Deep inside I knew I was lying to myself…
Recently, my husband, who loves praise and worship songs downloaded couple of songs from I-Tunes. I happened to be there listening to these songs with him, and when I heard, “In The Hands of God”, I was so drawn to it. I don’t know why but I had this great desire to find out more about Newsboys. See, I only listen to classical music, so I know very little about Christian bands or musicians. What I didn’t know was that God was about to reveal to me one of His strongest weapons of these days, Newsboys, to me!
Last few weeks, I was consumed by Newsboys. I’ve read and watched(all online)as much as I could about the band whenever I had time. I’ve been doing a lot of crying, and been deeply touched and encouraged by your work, but what hit me the strongest was not your, Peter, incredible presence on the stages that captures me as nothing else matters, powerful lyrics, music and testimonies, but the comments of young people responding to your music and testimonies which I found online. I’ve read comments after comments from all over the world, how Newsboys’ music and ministry changed them and set them free. These comments brought me to tears every night and helped me take my eyes off things just around me and see what God is doing all over the world. Our God we serve is truly amazing.
Couple nights ago, God led me to one of your songs, “Stay Strong”. It’s a powerful song! The words and music just can’t get any better. As I was listening to the song and reading the responses, it came more clear to me than ever before. Only thing that matters here is what we do for our Lord, Jesus. This time, Holy Spirit’s voice was different. His voice was no longer quiet, but it was like fire in my heart. That night, God ministered to me through this song and changed my perspective of life so much. He’s been working on me last 7 years, but this time was more intense. All I know now is that I have to write music days ahead no matter what. I don’t even know what kind of music and if anyone will even hear the music, but I know for sure on the day I see Him face to face, the first thing He will ask won’t be “why did you not write music for me as you promised?” Praise our mighty God, that I’m ready to fall “in the hands of God” in peace and without struggling with doubts. God is so patient. He waited so long for this moment, but I believe it’s the right time. I’m so excited to see what God will show me when I diligently spend time on writing music.
Thank you, Peter for all the hard work you have done for the Lord last 22 years. So many lives have been changed including mine because you obeyed to God’s calling in your life and made sacrifices necessary. I know your reward will be great not just in heaven but also here days ahead. I no longer listen to the song “Amazing Love” the same way, but imagine you truly living what you’ve been singing “It’s my joy to honor You”. I believe you truly are a man of God. I also believe as you walk into a new chapter of your life, I feel that Summer will partner with you in your ministry, and God will take you and Summer to a higher place where you will be able to minister in a greater scale. For some reason, I imagine you and Summer hosting a weekly(very dynamic) show which will talk about your music, have testimonies and more, and will broadcast all over the world… Whaever God leads you, I know it will be wonderful. I look forward to seeing what God does in your life. Don’t be critical of your own work. I think they are amazing!
I’m not sure if this note will ever get to you where you will actually read it, but writing this note is helping me a great deal. When I get discouraged I could look at this note and remind myself what took place recently and be encouraged.
Sincerely,
P.S. I recently downloaded “belly of the whale” song, and my boys love the song so much. My 2-year-old could barely talk, but he will try to sing this song. It’s so cute! He loves it so much when he gets into my car, that’s all he wants to hear over and over again. Even when I take him to his favorate place, a playground, he will not come out of the car until we drove around and heard the song several more times. Move over Mozart!

Peter,
So sad to hear of your departure… But thankful you’ll still be writing and producing for the Newsboys. Our family has been strengthened and blessed by your ministry. Michael Tait is a great choice as its a God Choice so all will work out to his Glory! We are thankful for the way that the Lord has used you to touch our lives and the lives of so many. Been a fan of the Boys since I saw and got hooked on the video for “Take me to your leader’. The energy from your songs and the group just reached in and grabbed me by the ears! My son came to love you guys when he was in his early teens and we both have been avid fans ever since! I can still hear him singing Shine in his room Moshing Up & Down in his room Worshipping Jesus! What an impact! Will miss hearing you preach the messages so much. What a fire in the belly Abba Father has given you. I’m sure he will continue to use you as you and your family continue to seek after him! I know one day we will see you again when we all get back home. May He BLESS ad Keep you, Summer & your family (including the dog) until then!

Peter Furler, I remember your concert in Uganda in Sept 06. You blessed my heart. It was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. It is a beautiful thing to see men ooozing with Christ and yet also able to entertain. Thank you for allowing me and my sisters an exclusive photo-moment with the band (we had run around town on motorbikes, taxis and whatever means we could use looking for the band when we had you were in Uganda. May God richly bless you and guie your steps as you take the next step in your life. I hope that you will still do a show with the band every once in a while.
May 31st, 2009 on 12:21 pm
Hey Peter,
I started listening to Newsboys after a TV-show I saw at the Dutch television (being from Belgium that alone is spectacular) but ever since I stood still again about my relationship with God. Jesus Christ takes a larger place in my life then i originally thought and although i love heavy punk rock I always feel good listening to Newsboys and i believe that’s thanks to you (i’m bold as well and because I saw this bold guy singing rock music on Dutch televison i stopped and kept wachting…) Thank you Peter, I’ll still continue listening to Newsboys but God’s speed for you and still hope to see you somewhere live once in my lifetime.. greets from Belgium!
June 10th, 2009 on 12:11 am
Peter,
Don’t know if you actually read all these messages, but I hope so. I’ve never been a “groupy” before, but I turned into one as a middle-aged mom who heard my first Newsboys song “In The Belly Of A Whale” on the Veggie Tales Jonah movie. My husband and I both looked at each other in the theater and said, “We have to find out who this band is!!” We, especially me, have been your fans ever since. I’m 50 years old now and my friends just roll their eyes at me when they come over to my house and I have Newsboys latest CD playing loudly in the kitchen. Hey, if you can make even doing dishes and cooking supper fun, you must be doing something right! You just make my life fun! Your joy spills over onto me, and my joy spills over onto people I meet. It’s a great way to be contagious! I know my children like me best when I’ve been listening to your music. They are smart kids, they buy me Newsboys cd’s for gifts! : ) Your music and style are so FULL of lyrics ‘you can chew on’…you make me listen intently, think more deeply, and challenge me to take myself less seriously, but God ever so much more seriously. I am so glad that you will be writing more songs. I imagine it will be a challenge to write music that will be delivered by some other artist than yourself, but God is and always has been the one who gave you the wit, and the words. So I’m confident that He will match the songs with the artist to make something new and amazing again. I think it would be fun to have you as a friend. Well, until we are all with Him in Paradise, go and do His work with all the joy you have given to you, my friend. You always accompany me on my exercise walks, and you encouraged me on my 40 lbs weight loss. All the right songs come on at just the right time…we know who does that. But it was your music that He used to speak to me during those times. Consider how blessed you are if all the blessings you’ve given out come back at you multiplied! Wow! Thanks for being who you are and being available to God so He can speak to us through you! Your friend, and sister in Christ, Barb

Pete,
Brother you and I have been singing these songs together for 20 years now. I’m so used to worshiping with you - Thankfully the worship is not about you or me! This last album ROCKS!! Your cover of Lead Me to the Cross is way better than any of the others!
We’re here in Olathe Kansas if you ever need a place to stay. All we have is His and therefore yours!

Goodness…God is awesome…love being shepherded by the LORD…was blessed to attend one of you alls concerts in Florida…my husband, Dr Dale Henry, married almost 36 years this year! He happened to be speaking near the upcoming concert and my prayers were answered, as time and time again…I desired to praise God at a very HIGH level and the newsboys made it happen…we were experiencing a drought last year and I knew God would hear our prayers and send the rain…it began raining after the concert and continued raining so much that my husband and I had to make our way on our own…I rented a car and listened to contemporary Christian music all the way home including the newsboys ofcourse and Dale made his way on up the east coast…I love the LORD with everything about me and heartfeltly thank the Newsboys for helping me relate best to the one and only true GOD, who sent HIS only son who shed HIS pure precious blood to remove our sins once and for all and believing HIM will bring us eternal life!…I cannot get enough opportunities to PRAISE and Worship God enough…being so hungry for righteousness!!!and thanks to the NEWSBOYS and also Casting Crowns and Selah among my favorite who help me and in turn help others to come to know HIM!!!Love given opportunities to tell other about Christ, our Savior…Holy Spirit driven to serve!!! promoting our LORD
LOVE in Christ
PS bought 4 copies of In the Hands of God and got another as a gift! Something Beautiful brought tears to my eyes my two daughters got married and were given away by their dad…my uncle gave me away my dad was in heaven before my wedding…we’ll see him soon…the dead in Christ will rise First!
& love the whole band and love you Peter you are such a Godly “icon” for Christ! maybe you and you wife will cross our paths someday?…Dale’s an author and humorist!…always great with people making them laugh: great stress release!!! His gift from God! Tennesseans/Floridians too…..Loving God’s Word daily

Peter,
God Bless for all you have done for my daughter and me. She is mildly mentally disabled and she LOVES God and christian music, but out of all christian bands, she loves the Newsboys. We saw you guys at the Go Tour in Houston, TX. We really wanted to meet you, but was unable to do so. I was shocked to hear that you were leaving, but I understand the need for you to spend more time with your family. The Newsboys (through God) have given me strength as I travel a very difficult road.
When I heard the song “In the Hands of God” and heard the wonderful voice in the back ground…I just had to find out who it was. I think that you have made a great choice in Michael Tait, and I look forward to hearing his voice on the next album, but you will be sorely missed. I dearly hope that you actually read these comments, so that you will know how much you will be missed. Thank you again!!!! May God Bless you in all things that you do.

Not sure if you’ll read this, but the opportunity to finally speak face-face (computer-computer) with my favorite singer is something I simply cannot pass up.
I heard you for the first time when I was 11 years old. Saw you guys on Carman’s “Time2″ show jumping around singing “I’m Not Ashamed”. Loved you ever since - for the past 17 years. Hands down my favorite band. My husband and I lead the youth department at our church and I have managed to hook them all on your music as well.
You may hear this everyday, but you really have no idea how your music has helped me growing up. I made a decision a long time ago to always turn to God whenever stuff gets hard. I have worn out numerous songs on my CD’s because they have been played so many times.
You are altogether my favorite Christian song writer. Mainly because it really is poetry. You have such a way with words. I pray that you and your wife grow closer and closer together, and that God would continue to use you to bless the people around you.
My life will never be the same because of your music. Because of the above mentioned songs, I have learned how to forgive, whenever I feel the desire to hold a grudge, “Let it Go” comes to mind. When I feel like God’s asking too much of me, “I Surrender All” reminds me it’s not too much. When things get hard, and my faith is being tested “Believe” comes to mind. And one day, when it’s my time to go, I’ll be singing, “Who?”.

(Although now that I think of it, I did accidently render Duncan unconscious one time in a play fight minutes before a concert!) I read that and laughed so hard I nearly peed in my pants! Hahahaha! I was practically raised on Newsboys. Yesterday I actually heard Not Stand Silent from Boys Will Be Boyz for the first time in forever. I WAS ONLY 4 WHEN THAT ALBUM CAME OUT! I’m 22 now. Anyway, I am so happy that you are still staying somewhat involved with the band. Thanks for 22 years of being insanely amazing!

Thank You! I will miss you on stage. Keep writing the songs of Worship! I look forward to the day when we will all sit down and have Breakfast in the Kingdom!

Peter, I am so sorry to see you leave the Newsboys although I respect your reasons. The Newsboys are not the same without you. I was as Unity in Muskegon. While I have a great respect for Michael Tait and enjoyed his work with DC Talk, He isn’t you. You have been the face & voice of Newsboys since it’s inception and I can’t see anyone else performing “Breakfast”!! I will miss you and your presence in the music.
God be with you in your future endevours.
I pray that you continue to use the gift God gave you to share the Good News! with the world.
August 15th, 2009 on 2:25 am
Peter,
May God Bless you and continue to ‘keep you on the inside’ of what’s happening in the Spirit, and in the Kingdom. You have sown great seed into many a good soil! I’ve listened to your music from high school through college and now my adult/family life. The work you put into spreading God’s word touched my heart at a young age (15, I think), and now I’m almost 32. Wow, the time went fast. Thanks for having been a part of my youth and young adult life in my walk with the Lord. Blessings on you, and a double-portion of rest, prosperity, and vision for what God has next for you and your family.
Until Christ’s Return!

Peter, all the best to you and Summer. I have memories of seeing the Newsboys 10-15 years ago going back to Texas and many times in FL. Your messages and music has touched my family and my daughter and I have always gone to your concerts and buy your music when released. We were disappointed when you decided to step back , and I’m sure Michael will work to fill your shoes but there is no sound like Peter with the Newsboys (although we missed Phil too when he left).
Good Bless and we look to hear from you and the band in the future!
and the best to Michael in filling the lead position.
WE saw you all at Disney Night of Joy last week and you were awesome- we wanted more!

I have discovered The Newsboys only this week (10-1-09); yes, this week! New to contemporary Christian music and the wonderful energy and joy it brings I spent this past week watching everything I could find of The Newsboys (even the really old stuff; I was a teenager in the 80s too; what were we thinking!). The energy of the ‘Huston We Are Go’ DVD is amazing and while I wonder where the inspiration for “Breakfast” came from I love all all of the music. Thanks for your sense of humor, humilty (Where Every You Go), and heart (Something Beautiful). The music of The Newsboys is helping me to discover those things in myself as I start this new life in Christ.
While your decision to leave the band must have been a hard one, I hope your marriage and walk with God are strengthened by it. Have you thought about writing a book about your expereinces?

I cannot believe you are actually leaving. I have listened to your music ever since I can remember, and it will never be the same without you. I wanted to go to a concert to see you at least one time, but never got to. I was at fellowship church in Grapevine, TX when you made a surprise appearance, and it was amazing!! So glad that happened. I cried when i heard that this was your last cd as lead singer. I will miss you.
i don’t know Michael Tait well, but i liked a few dc talk songs, so I’m sure he will do great. Your voice gave the songs it’s sound. Even though the music will still have the same feel, it won’t be the same.
Good Luck to Mike!!!
And thanks for all you have done!!! You have blessed so many people, and your music means so much to me.
Continue writing the songs, and PLEASE don’t ever stop.
God Bless You!!!

I wish mr. Furler all the best. I have only known the newsboys since he started as the lead singer. I have seen them in concert a few times and enjoyed the music. it won’t be the same without him. he is a awesome singer and brilliant songwriter. I am happy he will still be writing for the newsboys and hope he will still get on the microphone every now and then. good luck mr. Furler.

Peter, I want to thank you for your dedication to the cause, and your honesty. Last night I went to the WinterJam 2010 in Charlotte, NC and was once again blown away by God, and by you guys. I was sad I didn’t get to shake your hand in person, but I did shake Michael’s hand and thanked him for not only “talking the talk,” but for also “walking the walk”.
You guys are amazing, and I look forward to passing on my collection of your music to my kids. Stay strong, and strengthened in the Lord, and know that we all see Him through you.
Thanks again,
Philip
