NEWSBOYS ANNOUNCES THE RETURN OF LONG-TIME GUITARIST JODY DAVIS
New Single, “In The Hands Of God,” Impacts Radio Jan. 16
(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) Jan. 5, 2009— Guitarist Jody Davis returns to newsboys after a five-year hiatus. Davis, who was a member of the band from 1993-2003, contributed to many of newsboys’ greatest hits like “Shine,” “Entertaining Angels,” and “It is You.” In 2003, he took time off to care for his daughter, Bethany, who has cerebral palsy.
“I am thrilled to be returning to the band and back with my bandmates, who are some of my best friends,” says Davis. ”This is a big change in my life, and I’m looking forward to the tour and new record with excitement.”
Peter Furler, lead vocalist for newsboys, is also excited about Davis’ return. “Jody is like a brother to all of us, and we have missed him greatly over the last five years. It’s going to be great to have him back with us.”
Paul Colman, who played guitar with newsboys the last three years, will be continuing his solo career and performing shows nationwide in 2009. ”My three years with newsboys were among the best of my life. I learned an immeasurable amount about music, ministry, and life, and am happy to say I left with all our friendships wonderfully intact. I always was and always will be one of newsboys’ biggest fans. I am very excited about the return of Jody Davis!”
newsboys will release the title track and debut single, “In The Hands Of God,” from its forthcoming May 5, 2009 project to both AC and CHR radio Jan. 16. The band will also embark on a 30-city “Join the Tribe” tour with special guests DecembeRadio, Vota, and Bread of Stone in February. Additional tour details are forthcoming.

Hi,
I am looking for an acoustic version of “I am Free”. I love that song but want a toned down version. If there is a studio recorded version in existence please let me know and I will buy a CD of it.

Welcome back, Jody! We’ve all missed you over the past few years! We’re going to miss Paul but God has huge plans for his ministry. Our prayers are with the band as they record their new album and continue to GO and make disciples of all nations!

Welcome back, Jody. Can’t wait to hear all of the new songs! I’m going to miss Paul though at a concert in Cali we had a conversation that I will never forget, it was only a few lines but I was so happy that I cried the rest of the night. That was probably the best day of my life. I will never forget it. The newsboys are my favorite band ever.

Welcome back Jody we have missed you. I am said to see Paul go and I will miss him but he will be always be a member of the Newsboys. So glad to hear that you guys are comin back to life light this year in Sioux Falls,South Dakota, it has just not been the same with you. Oh, welcome back Jody. What a beautiful and loving gift you gave your daughter by giving her your time. It is far more important than giving it to anyone else. You have honored the Lord by taking care of His child! Bless you and your family. And to the other members of the band…prayers continue for safety as you travel and perform. My husband and I hope to enjoy one of your concerts again soon.

Welcome back, Jody! So great to take the time off for your little girl. My son has Cerebral Palsy as well. He is a true joy in my life and I know I am truly blessed that God has trusted me with one of his special children. He has blessed you too!
Wish you guys were playing in Gorge, WA again this year at the Creation festival. We sure enjoyed seeing you the last two years and are sad your not comming again this year. Maybe next year!

I was very dissapointed to see the 4-24 concert in Pensacola, Fl. was cancelled. Me and my wife saw your concert the last time yall came, and were blown away by your performance.I hope and pray you guys can have a concert in this area as soon as possible. Welcome Back Jody!! My Son and I are HUGE Fans. We have seen you guys twice since last July and I am surprising my son this Saturday in Woodbridge. He thinks we are going to the movies with his friend and after dinner off to a night of worship with the Newsboys!! I can not wait to see you perform ” In the Hands of God”! I met the Newsboys last year at Creation West- it was a true highpoint for me. Paul Coleman was especially welcoming, and everyone was gracious. I will miss you this year (can it really be Creation without you?). However, I am so glad Jody came back. I believe he was really truely the most inventive, and best, guitarist the newsboys have had. I hope you un-retire some old school songs (Entertaining Angels and It is You, please please). Maybe next Phil Joel will come back.

So glad to hear Jody is back with the Newsboys.As a parent of a son with spina bifida it’s a blessing to hear of a father that spends time with their special needs child. We both met Jody at a pipe show in Virginia. Jody is also a ‘top notch’ very skilled pipe maker. God Bless

i didnn’t know he left the band until just recently because i just started listening to the newsboys in 2008
